Last year, I'd converted the Airfix Spitfire PRXIX to an FR21 with my own home cast wing, as you can see in this thread here:

IIRC, that was just a taped up test fit.


Anyway, after fighting a little with the canopy - getting the one from the Airfix IXc took a little ingenuity - it was done in time for Telford as part of my Alternate Spitfire line up.  It was one of several that I was doing with 2nd TAF.

The Ventura rebuild in the above thread may be a little longer.

Easy!  Spray uppers overall Dark Sea Grey, paint the grey area of disruptive camo over it with Maskol and then spray green. Peel off maskol, cleanup with masking tape (pulls off any adhearing chips) then mask again but with tape and spray underneath.  

That's my method.  Others say do the lightest shade first but I always do the underneath last.  Easier to touch up a dark colour than a lighter one if you have any creep.  Plus it can sit on it's u/c whilst drying.
