Have NO idea why I decided to build this.
Airfix.
1:72.
Probably first molded a decade or more before I was born.
More putty than plastic.
And yet, as with so many Airfix kits, you can't help but love the little model that comes out from the sprues...

I have no idea what I'll do for a scheme.  Yet.
Styrene in my blood and an impressive void in my cranium.

You were bored, and it appeared before you.  That's why.

Having said that, I sooooo wanna see how you finish this one!
I exist to pi$$ others off!!!

I rebuilt mine with turboprops as a USAF spec ops bird in SEA over black, but that's me.

Always had a soft spot for the little critter.

Lovely neat looking aeroplane, but the landing gear is about as strong as wet spaghetti!  :banghead:

I've built two of them and both suffered from the 'sagging axle' syndrome, but no-one does any white metal replacements sadly.

Radish

Got one "in build" as well for "Biggles"...a SEAC scheme for mine.

Got a few others too that'll appear.
I'm just not bothering with the u/c.....mine are "flying", wither just landing, or just taking off.

Bonzer....

Though the Widgeon is the smallest of the Grumman twin-engined amphibians, I have a soft spot in my heart for the breed.

I got to fly "co-pilot" in a Grumman Goose in the mid-70's, piloted by a guy who had been flying them since the late 30's. Being in the plane as it waded into the water and took off (like a "cigarette boat" that FLIES!!) was a thrill I will never forget.

Living in San Diego growing up, there were always HU-16's parked on the bayside revetments of the Coast Guard station, and sometimes driving by I would see one wade out into the water.

I will check in fondly to see how this is doing.
My mind is like a compost heap: both "fertile" and "rotten"!

I shall be watching this too, as I like these little flying boats also. I did one a while back, and put the engines from a Pucara on it, and the props from an ov-10 bronco, very painless transplant too. painted mine midnight blue topside and red underside.

Too bad it isn't a Goose, then you could do the plane from "Tales of the Gold Monkey".

How about going Real World and doing a USCG plane

Funny you should say that Phil, I have the Rareplanes vacform Goose and it's terrific. I was thinking of doing the 'Gold Monkey' Goose too, but where do I get the dog to go in the back seat?  ;D

Never ask why.  Ask, "Why Not?", and then ignore the answers.

I love seaplanes.  I've always wanted to build a real-life flying houseboat out of a Catalina, or maybe one of those snazzy Russian turboprop jobbies.  I could definitely get into loading up the plane and heading to the lake. . .
