Lovely neat looking aeroplane, but the landing gear is about as strong as wet spaghetti!  :banghead:

I've built two of them and both suffered from the 'sagging axle' syndrome, but no-one does any white metal replacements sadly.

Yeah, I noticed that.  At this scale, I'll be going the Radish Route and selecting "in flight" mode.  All the better for low level runs at the cats, anyhow.

Too bad it isn't a Goose, then you could do the plane from "Tales of the Gold Monkey".

Funny you should say that Phil, I have the Rareplanes vacform Goose and it's terrific. I was thinking of doing the 'Gold Monkey' Goose too, but where do I get the dog to go in the back seat?  ;D

I am sure we can find a 72nd scale Jack someplace.
I have the DVD set on my Xmas list but think I should find a library copy and resee it to make sure.  Did that with The Adventures of Brisco County Jr and had to get the show but after catching up on Jack of All Trades, will pass on that one.

Oh, now back to your regularly scheduled What If build.

Now that it's primered and I'm contemplating paint schemes, I have a sudden, rekindled respect for those of you who routinely build in 1:72 scale and do it well.
This thing is tiny ! ("that's what she said").

Tiny? Nah, a 1/72 BD-5 is tiny, see JayBee's pink one!  ;D
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Why are you building it? You have the foolishness to ask yourself this?
It's called a Widgeon! How can you have something in the stash called a Widgeon and not wanna make it?! Hell, the name is just so awesomely gormless - I mean it sounds kinda like a wide-boy pigeon or something!

And yes, in the past I have based important decisions purely on the gormlessness of the names involved.
There are no good kits, bad kits or grail kits, just kitbash fodder.

Yep I would have to build that too. What a nifty little plane. Can't wait to see how you finish her

Because these ancient Airfix repops are good tests of modelling skills and have good whiffing potential.

Small, cheap, fun! I'm doing the old Airfix Helldiver at the moment, which is similarly antiquated.

Last model of 2010 for me.  Few in progress shots, first:

Well, it IS a very old kit, I suppose.

And this scheme is either interesting or it's simply the dumbest thing I've ever dreamt up (you decide).

Glossed up for decals

And the decals go on.  I made the mistake of actually following Airfix's instructions right down to the numbers and they got their red bullseye inserts mixed up, size-wise.  So, the fuselage roundels are missing the thin white perimeter around the bullseye red.  Should've simply trusted my intuition.

And, here it is, my last model of 2010, shot against a photo background in my garage.

Happy New Year!

I have tons more pics but I ran out of time as I wanted to upload the finished model before midnight....heh, 50 minutes to spare.

Another good one  As for the "missing" white ring, just say it was painted over as an aid to the camoflage, as some indeed were
