They do look rather good, don't they? The Lancaster is looking like it'll be quite expensive. I will definitely be getting one of those Bomber Loading sets, and probably all the others too!
Some of my models can be found on my Flickr album >>>HERE<<<

RRP on the BII is slated for about £25 which is reasonable for an aircraft that size although undercut by the Revell kit.  Expect to pick up quite a few cheap Lancs on ebay when this appears.

As a side note, if anyone is getting this and doesn't want/need the FN82 tail turret glazing, can they keep me in mind plese?  Ta muchly.

Captain Canada

Seems like they are really getting it right, as every kit that comes out, we all want !

I've been very impressed with Airfix's new tooled kits and yet they keep forgetting  about something I'd really like to see; a 1/48 scale Folland Gnat T.1 and F.1.

Only trouble is they appear to have dothe nasty trick of optional 2 fronts and only 1 back, still its nice to see it included in the kit and lined up for possible late/post war options for the I/III next year.

This maybe in the wrong 'Airfix' section but there's PAGES of 'em.....  :banghead:

Did the OOP Airfix Mirage F1 kit come with both the single and two seater bits please? The Heller issue did, but mine has no clear parts and I'd rather like to build it, probably as an RAF 2 seater, with longer wings of course.......  ;D
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

Kit, the Airfix Mirage F1 came with a single-seat option only.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

It should fit the older kit solid back.  If it doesn't then someone could always mould it...

Speaking of which, perhaps someone could point Colin towards the large tropical radiators and intakes for Tiger Force Lancasters?  The 1970s tool Lancaster had it's radiators too large because Airfix had measured up PA474 which had been destined for the far east and thus had larger radiators.

Frustratingly, the larger intakes are given in ALL of the Hasegawa Lancasters (along with the GR/MR camera fairing and glazing, plus the Village Inn AGL) as standard but not the larger radiators.

I would have liked to have seem a closed bomb door option on the Airfix Lanc, if only for ease of assembly.

Wonder if the Paragon Grand Slam bits will fit it?

The Airfix Mirage F1 was their own kit, not the Heller one.  It was tooled late 70s IIRC and well before the Humbrol buy out of CPG.

Thanks for that Mossie and Lee.

Which begs the question is the Humbrol badged version the Heller or the Airfix kit? There's only one Heller F1 on ebay right now, currently at £21....

Heritage Aviation do a 1/72 F.1B conversion. LINK It's the only option for a B at the moment, as Heller changed their moulds when doing the later variants (CR and CT) of their F.1.

The Heller boxings contain Heller kits. Apart from 80318 (with a Spanish F.1 for the box art), which contains the Airfix kit.

Must, then, my projects bend to the iron yoke of a mechanical system? Is my soaring spirit to be chained down to the snail's pace of matter?

Kit, I'm not very familiar with the Heller kits but I've just had a Google and the Humbrol boxing definately doesn't have the Airfix kit in it, at least the one I found didn't.  The fuselage is markedly different in the two kits, the Airfix has the cockpit integral to the fuselage, the Heller version has it seperate.   Not all Heller boxings seem to have the two seat option either (and the Humbrol version I saw didn't seem to either), so be careful what you buy.

Pretty decent results for a company being laughed at not all that long ago.

£25 for the Lanc sounds perfectly reasonable. On the list I think!

It's a lot more reasonable than the prices charged for the Hasegawa kit which is a generation in terms of detail behind this one, judging by the sprues.
