And as for the new Typhoon - can't wait to get my hands on one!

Got one this am, very nice

Had a good look at the Typhoon now.

The propeller and spinner can be fitted at the end of the build and still spin  None of this either fitting at the beginning of the build and breaking it or fixing it at the end.

The rockets are moulded in one piece and are very passable examples.

Undercarriage bays are separate and the suggested build sequence using them is slightly out of the ordinary but so what, change at my age is good, or so I'm told  ;D

Cockpit appears to give the open look of the real thing.

Gun bay panels can be opened.

All in all looks very nice

22 minutes by Tube to Stratford MZ.  Can be there and back to the office with a new Airfix Tiffie in my lunchbreak.

That's Monday sorted, then.  not as good as meandering round the corner to the former Holborn branch, for which a replacement still doesn't seem in sight.

That's good going Dave.

Having seen the sprue shots and the destructions for the Lanc, I can say I'm not happy with parts of the assembly.  The undercarriage bay is built up on the spar and then the wing halves are fitted over them - which means you can't assemble the wings and engines separately and bring it all together for final assembly.

I understand Airfix are going for more detail and that's to be applauded but there comes a point where that makes assembly a monumental pain in the arse which can and does turn people off.

I've got the newsletter and a MiG-29 has sneaked in among the new tools.  It's their older kit going by the number, with new decals for Czech and Polish aircraft.

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Perfect. I've had a few Fulcrum based ideas in the last few years and a chesap, half decent ( I'm assuming on both ) will be just what the Doctor ordered !

Think so, had one years back and can't remember what happened to it.  It dates back to the old days of Glasnost when we were only just getting sketchy details of Soviet aircraft, Airfix made a bit better hash at it then anyone else at the time.  Usual Airfix rules for that era apply, raised panel lines, so-so fit, mostly accurate.

The MiG 29, Harrier GR5/7/T10, Su 27, EFA and Tucano were all tooled by Heller.

talking of the re-popped airfix tucano.

it has a decal option for 207 [R] sqn, that doesn't get mentioned on the box artwork but does in the instructions.

one assumes this is because of lack of space on the box to put the extra artwork in.

Yes. I was pleasantly surprised to see the Mig 29 again. Quite a decent kit at a fairly decent price  although the fit of some of the parts leaves a bit to be desired. Very likely a few of them will alight on my shelf! <_<. Hope the Harrier T.10 resurfaces. Will need that for my Harrier collection

I doubt it somehow i suspect they would probably prefer to retool it along the lines of the GR-9 than re-issue the older kit to keep their 1/72nd Harrier range in the same new tool standard.

Still listed in the current online catalogue, but it's the first time I've seen this boxing:

Seen this morning at The Aviation Hobby Shop.  Which like everywhere else is having a new-mould Airfix Typhoon drought!
