Maintrack did a kit of the 545, and I'm sure I've seen another manufacturer announce a kit of it quite recently.  Maybe Whirlybird since they have all the Maintrack moulds now.

Quite a lot of it I'd have thought. The fuselage from the rear of the cockpit backwards is pretty much the same as a Swift, and most of the wings would be usable, with added bits to make the crescent shape. The nose will be the major problem of ccurse, I can't think of enything even vaguely like it apart from the SAAB 210.

The 545 was at Cranfield when I was there and it was a very interesting shape, the canopy especially so as it bulged outward from the frames upward! A pity they scrapped it.

Not if your building the 545 F1 production version aa it's quite a bit larger

But I'm very dubious as to my capabilities with vacform.
I may stick both on Ebay and work up something from the Airfix Swift resulting from those sales...

Go on, try it. Vacforms aren't that difficult.

I had a clear out a couple of months ago and sold five Project X vac forms for over £100. That money has gone back into injection moulded stuff.

I had an email from Airfix today about their 'Round the World Build' of a 1/48 Lightning F3, ending up in UK with James May lending a hand to finish it off.

What really got my goat was when it was shipped back into UK the ruddy Customs tried to charge them £115 duty on it! Darn it, it LEFT here in the first place! Someone really needs to read those guys the riot act, they're getting far too big for their onw boots.

I found a shop today with at least 3 Airfix 1/72 Fulmars.  What's it like?  Worth picking one up?

I was sniffing mine last night.  Not bad at all, simple cockpits, it's short-run style (I believe it's a Merit mould originally) so no location pins, but a few plasticard tabs shouldn't take long to add.  Fit seems to be pretty good from the test fitting I did.  Builds up into a nice model from what I've seen on the web.  Decals are not supposed to be great from a short period when Airfix used some plasticy kind, but I've robbed some for another build and they where fine.  The same kit is currently available in the Smer boxing.

I'd recommend it from my plastic sniffing.

Yeap I agree with Mossie, nice straight forward kit for its age, got one in build at the moment but had to order some new blades so I can mask the rear canopy as no Aftermarket masks are currently available.

It's an ex-Vista kit also boxed by (I think) SMER and Revell. Nice kit.

I built one, with longer wings naturally, and a different engine..... 

It went together quite nicely IIRC.
