It's a shame their postage rates are so blasted ruinous.  :o

The Royal Mail/Post Office conglomerate are milking it to a VAST extent.

Rates have gone sky high for parcels even inside the UK and to send stuff to the Antipodes is RUINOUS. I posted an 'aid package' to Hank (Army of One) recently which cost £8.90 and it was only two kits in one box. To send the same parcel to NZ would have cost over £25!!!!!!
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

I wanted to send a package to America recently. Because it was 0.2kg over the 2kg limit, the rate went up from £40 to nearly £80!!!!! Went on Parcels2go eventually and got it sent for £20.... :banghead:

Right I was discussing this Airfix 1/24th rumour with IPMS El Presidente at Farnborough yesterday and he said that yes there will be an Airfix announcement at SMW but he has no idea as to how 1/24th has been attached to that. So that part of the story is rumour not fact as such. Doesn't mean it won't be 1/24th but that is not part of what has so far been discussed by the various parties.

I assume that Airfix have simply said they will be making an announcement.

QuoteWhilst we are on the subject of traders, Airfix will be announcing a large new model at 11:00 on Saturday at the SMW 2914, I am lead to believe that it will be in 1/24 scale.

Right so we know where the 1/24th bit came from but being pedantic the important bit is "led to believe".

And yes it is interesting that Mr President doesn't appear to have read this. Mind you he always seems somewhere else rather then in the here and now when I talk to him ? That could be the effect I have on him however

I'm still alive (just) and I'd like to contribute but can hardly...use this site, it's superb http://www.interparcel.com/

I can't see them doing an all new 1/24th kit so soon after the Typhoon, maybe a new variant of an existing kit like a bomber Mossie or car door tiffie.
I'm hoping for something big in 1/72nd like a Victor bomber or a VC-10 (civvy & military/standard & Super variants) though a new tool Herc would be awesome and they wouldn't have to buy them in from Italeri anymore.....

The thing I would love though is a reasonably priced Super King Air 200/350 family. I'd buy loads of them, so many schemes coz everyone, and their Grandma, has operated them!

I'm going for the outside bet of a 72nd Lincoln - apparently, some dudes from Airfix were doing measurery things with the one at Cosford.

Or there's the Shackleton that's been rumoured for some years...

either would be more than welcome here.

Personally, I'd be happier with the Lincoln because there's a Shackleton available in 72nd, albeit old and rivetty.

The only alternative to a rather basic vacform are three horrendously priced conversions - Flightpath (expensive and doesn't give you the correct wheels or rudders), Paragon (expensive, long OOP and the engines just don't look right, although at least everything is there) and the new Blackbird one (Eyes, sockets, arm and leg price range, at coppers shy of £80?  And that's BEFORE buying the basic Lancaster to convert!  I think I'll give it a miss)

It intimates that they're going to add the B-25 Mitchell to that collection soon. That kit's so old they should be paying US to take it off their hands!  :o
