Yeah, seems those bastiches are a law unto themselves, and the cynic in me wonders if the bureaucrats'
attitude aids the 'official importers' and 'retailers' in keeping the prices jacked, knowing that many won't
want to bother with the extra hassle of getting kits direct on their own.

According to the international tariff and duty agreements to which the UK, US, Japan, etc., are signatories
there are no tariffs or duties on plastic model kits, they fall under the Toy category.

I'm glad to say I haven't opened the International Tariff book since I retired Jon  Used to find the very final International Tariff quite amusing for some reason. Can't remember the number, and besides it may have changed but it was "bodies, or parts of" 

The other thing I used to find a bit of a pain was that most of the world could deal with an 8 digit tariff (it went 6 for HS, 8 for CN if I remember) but the good old US of A needed 13 ! Again it may well have changed.

The Phantom will make an appearance in tomorrow's Workbench, they shared a photo of the decal sheet and instructions...I don't think I've ever seen so many stencils on an Airfix sheet!

A new Mirage III/5 at Airfix's current standards would be nice, eventually with separate nose sections for a shorter IIIC, too.
The only decent kit in 1:72 I am aware of is the vintage Heller offering, and it has IMHO room for improvements.

I must admit I'm seriously tempted to get one, even at that price, but I suspect the entire first production batch will have already been ordered by Thorvic and OGL!

A new Mirage III/5 at Airfix's current standards would be nice, eventually with separate nose sections for a shorter IIIC, too.

Could it be that it's the vintage Lindberg kit (a long-nosed IIIE), reboxed? I know that this one comes with an engine as extra, but has rather crude raised panel lines. The Heller one has these, too, but they are pretty fine.

As a side note, the RV Aircraft Mirage kit is pretty new - had forgotten that one. But it's pretty pricey...

High Planes and PJ Productions do a really nice Mirage III: LINK!

Not exactly cheap either, but really nice. And it appears that the RV kit was , let's say, "heavily inspired" by the first edition of the current High Planes/PJ kit.

What, I've only pre-ordered 4 so far..., it is SMW month and I do have the 1/700 Ark Royal to pick up too then so have to behave a bit

Of course I may (aka will definitely!!!) be stocking up more in subsequent months  , after all I want to build all the kit options plus the prototype, the one that flew off Eagle on the trials plus 700 sqdn before getting round to 899 and the other potential squadrons and users !!!!!!!!!.

According to Scalemates, the Revel Mirage III model is unique to Revel and dates to 1976.  The Lindberg kit is unique to Lindberg and dates to 1977.

I have a couple pre ordered as well with the idea of doing one RAF as well as one as RN at the moment, this could change.

Its nice to see that the underside of the wings is provided as two separate options, with and without the strengthening plate, I may change my mind about my late RAF whiff F-4 that I am building and use the strengthening plate option from one of the Airfix kits I have on order added into a Fujimi F-4M but that would be a lot of work but might look nicer that thin card or paper added to the underside of the wing.

Just use a bit of tracing paper on the spare part if we get both in the kit... (Only a test shot and those gates may be closed for FG1 production ! )
