Mossie

A comprehensive list on the Airfix forum, including reboxes:

https://www.airfix.com/us-en/forum/have-airfix-forgotten-those-things-called-cars/?p=10/

1/24 kits:
1/24 Aston Martin DB5 re-tooled to 1/24 Aston Martin DB6
1/24 Bugatti EB110
1/24 Jaguar E-Type
1/24 Peugeot 905 EV1
1/24 Toyota 2000GT

I'm assuming the Bugatti and Peugeot originated with Heller but they shared the moulds.

I had the 1/24 Ferrari 250 GTO and Jaguar XK-E hardtop that originated with Gunze, but passed them on.  Wish I'd kept hold of them.

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Got a question, does anyone have a list of who the original manufacturers are of the kits in the Falklands War Collection 6-Pack set

Thanks Chris, the FSR.1 is Italeri from what I've managed to piece together, which means is could be Esci. Harrier GR.3 is Airfix's, and the Super Etendard which seems to be the Heller kit. Airfix did rebox this one, which leaves the Skyhawk. Which actually could be the old mould Airfix kit, but I thought I read somewhere they used another manufacturer's kit

Re Mosquito B.XVI - someone on Britmodeller has been in touch with Airfix and apparently the canopy will have both blister and blown side panels. Hopefully as drop in panels a la Tamiya. In addition, the bulged bomb bay is separate.

Excellent news, as it means other marks will be available, such as B/PR.IXs, from the box.

Yes, excellent news - I'd assumed (OK hoped) that would be the case, judging by the renders on the Airfix website plus the '2021 releases' clip on YouTube.

I've said it before and I'll do so again. I think there are two canopies in the kit, one with and one without the astrodome, plus the drop in panels, which means all options are covered.

Plus it looks like separate wing tips, so the enterprising can do the extended wing PR32.

It doesn't need to catch on, it's here among us already.................  ;) ;)
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

Got one of my regular e-mails from Airfix today and it had a link to a report on their Workbench pages about design and development of the new tool 1/72 Mosquito. Fascinating read.

Nice bit about how the designer whilst the rest of his colleagues were at SMW 2019 slipped down to Cosford to get some more close up shots of the Mossie's bomb bay

The designer is the same guy that did the Spitfire Vc so I expect the Mosquito to be the equal of the Tamiya kit - the Vc is very nearly Eduard quality although some cockwomble on Britmodeller was calling the kit a 'debacle' but didn't give details when pressed.

TBH, other than the canopy blisters - which we've been assured there's both styles in the kit - I couldn't see anything wrong in the CAD. Hopefully the bulged bay sections are separate parts. We *really* need to see the sprues. Or a proper photo of that prototype that was in the YouTube video.

I'm building the Vc at the moment, so all I'll say is "there's always one  :banghead:"

There's a shot of the wing sprue on YouTube with an interview with the designer. The cowl fastenings look a tad heavy but nowt a tad sanding can't cure.  The leading edge landing light for postwar aircraft is moulded in.

Going by the CAD, some of the bits look clunky but then the Spitfire Vc looked a tad clunky on the CAD yet the mouldings were rather delicate, almost Eduard quality, so I'm not worried yet.

I'm looking forward to the new tool 1/72 Tempest as well, seems to have passed unnoticed somewhat with all the attention being on the Mosquito.
