I am holding out for a  new tool  Vulcan, shelf space  allowing, I  want to  build it as a maritime patrol bomber, with some shocking great whiff anti ship missiles , or a  quantity of RB -04 missiles  hung under the wings.
Chris.

A Vulcan with about 8 Sea Eagles would be a formidable Maritime Strike platform...

You could even use the older Martel and put the guidance pod in the tail

Martell missiles could  work to keep it within my time  period too,and I  think I have  some  somewhere. Something that could be  used to  attack  aircraft  carriers would be a good plan to.

I've been reading my just arrived copy of Nimrod's Genesis over the last couple of evenings, it says the RAF was very disappointed with the MARTEL. They ended up buying Harpoons for the Nimrods.
If I'm not building models, I'm out riding my dirtbike

one of the reasons why I was considering RB-04's Robert, as they would fit in with my timeline and they were supposed to be good missiles too.

Chris.

A cropped wing Gnat based anti-shipping missile, similar to the way the KS-1 used MiG-15 aerodynamic data.

Or perhaps three like the proposed manned Gnat carrier.

chrisonord

That looks doable, as i have a couple of airfix gnats in the stash. The vulcan should suit an overall edsg scheme too .

Ooh, you could pick up on the idea of a Gnat-based Standoff Missile someone here did, and carry three of those...

Sounds like a good plan, and 3 gnats underneath a vulcan should be easy enough to fettle. I just need Lidl to get some in again.

According to Vulcan's Hammer, Woodford produced a proposal to fit a Vulcan with six AJ.168 TV-Martels on underwing pylons. The datalink pod that unhelpfully took up a pylon on the Buccaneer would be installed in the tail cone, and the Red Steer rear warning radar relocated into a small bullet at the top of the tail fin.

In 1982 they got as far as test-flying AS.37 anti-radar Martels on Vulcans before deciding to switch to the Shrike for the Falklands raids, reportedly because they didn't have confidence that the Martel would survive the flight south.

Cheers  H.
I too have that book, hence me wanting to do something with a vulcan. I could always design (whiff) some missiles too.

Something with a cylindrical fuselage like the X-7 aka "Flying Stovepipe" like would be fairly
straightforward.

Maybe with simple tube wingtip ramjets rather than the big ramjet. The X-7 was built for the
development and testing of ramjets.

Something  that I  will look into  John,  a large and ridiculously fast missile would  make sense if targeting  aircraft  carriers.
