Quote from: The Wooksta! on July 30, 2024, 12:41:53 AMHasegawa have been guilty of the "Old kit in new box at new prices" for years, just as much as Revell or Airfix yet much of the modelling press and community give Hasegawa a free pass yet Airfix were utterly slated for it.
For some reason, the sun shines out of Hasegawa's arse and they can do no wrong.
No argument here.

Or here.

Very good stuff on the Belvedere there H, thanks so much.

That looks a VERY tight squeeze getting one below decks on that carrier's lift!  :o
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

There's at least 2 on that carriers deck.

I like the matelots standing arounding bare chested and in shorts watching that one on the elevator. You can almost hear them " Nah, they'll never manage that".
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Unless I'm much mistaken, that would be HMS Centaur in early 1964. She picked up the two Belvederes at Aden, along with men of 45 Royal Marine Commando and 16/5 Lancers, and then steamed quickly to East Africa where the men and helos were used to put down a mutiny by Tanganyikan troops (only two lives lost).

More details here (4th commission): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HMS_Centaur_(R06)

I like the look of that Shannon Lifeboat. Very tempted to get one at only £20.

I did that with my Severn Class kit a couple of years ago (albeit at Morecambe RNLI station).

Want one.  I was hoping for a more comprehensive decal sheet as I want to do the Bridlington based boat, but I understand with it being a starter set.  I'm keeping fingers crossed that the aftermarket delivers.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Fr anybody interested, Lidl are selling Airfix Starter kits (£6.99( from 25th August. Apart from the Tiger Moth (which I assume is the 2013, not the 1957 kit), it's the same tired old selection ;

Willys MB Jeep
Sherman Firefly
Supermarine Spitfire Mk.Ia
De Havilland Tiger Moth
Tiger I.

By the way, I also received this email from Airfix yesterday. It was devoid of specifics :

"An Important Message for Our Loyal Customers

As one of our valued customers, we wanted you to be one of the first to know that we are adjusting our prices from 1st September 2024.

As business costs and inflation have risen over the past two years, we have worked hard to find ways to absorb these costs and avoid having to pass them on to our customers. Despite facing challenging times, we have not had any major price changes since January 2022, but unfortunately, the time has come to update our product prices.

We know this is disappointing, but it is essential for us to be able to maintain the high-quality research, design and manufacturing processes that we pride ourselves on. We are looking at each product individually, so price changes will vary.

But here's the good news: you can still grab your favourite items at their current prices. Place your pre-orders or in-stock orders by 31st August to lock these prices in before they go up.

What's more, you don't have to worry about any pre-orders you have pending – we will honour these at their current price.

Thank you for your continued support!"

Until I see specifics, I'm not going to offer a more specific comment other than to say that a good number of Airfix kits ARE already priced out of my market. It's a very subjective issue of course and, there will be many differing opinions
