Time perhaps to rename this thread 'Airfix kit release news and gossip', and have similar for the other major manufacturers?  And a new thread 'The Cost of kits and accessories'.

No point, each thread would drift to something totally unrelated to the topic.

The 1/72nd Meteor F.8/FR.9, available to pre-order on the website, now has box art, which presumably means it's arrival is imminent:

Yes, they had a big spiel about it in their Workshop area a couple of days ago.

It seems it's the previous nice Airfix Club issued kit with new decals.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage

I was going to buy the Airfix Club issue, but I forgot and then it was gone.

Ironically I don't need it now, ever since I found out that the Special Hobby T.Mk.7.5, which I wanted for other reasons (decals & tip tanks), also includes a PR nose.

The Wooksta!

The club ones are still about, check eBay and are worth getting due to the full load out of rockets for two aircraft as there are single and two tier.

IIRC, even with postage it still worked out cheaper than a standard F8 off the shelf.

Exactly why I bought the Club versions, the rockets from one have been moved to an SAAF Meteor.

Using an affiliate link, when purchasing from Airfix, supports the Hawker Typhoon RB396 rebuild project.

"We are an "affiliate" of Airfix. That means, that when you use this link, Airfix pay us a small commission when you make a purchase within 30 days of using the link.
...
It applies to ANY purchase, not just the awesome new RB396 edition Typhoon kit which comes out soon.

Thanks, but I don't need the full rocket set, and I've already got a couple of the previous F.8 Club airframes and enough FROG-spawn Sea Venoms for all the double-stack rockets I need. The intention is to build a "Reaper" company demonstrator in airshow sales configuration with tip tanks, camera nose, and an asymetric loadout of different kinds of rockets and bombs to show a wide range of options.

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Do Corgi and Airfix share the same moulds or data on their models?

Gondor

Although the external shape and size may be the same for some Corgi and Airfix products, each part would be totally different due to the materials used and the breakdown of parts and the construction. If you have an old Dinki, Matchbox or Corgi car, open it up and compare how it went together against one of your plastic car kits.

True, although it's likely these days that they both start from the same digital data and then it goes to two different teams to be "modelized" in different ways for the different brands.

Some 1/24 injection moulded styrene Revell car kits were developed from (or at the time time as) metal die cast moulds.  You can tell from stuff like big slots in the panel in front of the windscreen for bonnet hinges.
I don't know if all parts are shared or just some of them (I suspect the latter).

Hobbycraft currently have a 3 for the price of 2 deal on all Airfix kits. Don't know how long it runs for.
