Quote from: The Rat on January 14, 2025, 09:31:09 AMDue to space limitations I try to stick to 1/72nd, but if that 1/48th P-40 is even half as good as their 1/72nd offering, I'm sorely tempted. Pretty sur Kiwi Zac would love one.

Quote from: Weaver on January 14, 2025, 09:21:19 AMEvil idea: there's a typo in the description of the 1/48th Irish Air Corps Spitfire TR.9, where it says "Crops" instead of "Corps". ;D  If they actually send it out like that, somebody needs to get one and build it as a crop sprayer, with spray bars under the wings and the chemical tank in the back cockpit, just to troll them at SMW 2025...

I like the way you think!  Make sure to get a screen capture for proof.

The guy in the vid pronounced it corpse too...

Quite a few people picked him up on that in the live chat as the video premiered, and in the comments too.

A Douglas A-24 (SBD) was contracted for several years by the city of Portland, Oregon for aerial mosquito control spraying. Perhaps something similar with the Spitfire making sure that the word "Mosquito" is prominent, the first thing to catch the eye.

Hornby has also released their line up for 2025. From what I've seen most of their old stuff updated or have new liveries. A couple of new train sets and train packs, very pricey including the Railroad range with one or two exceptions.
A pub on wheels and new rolling stock.

Well I'm sure the Wessex will be a cracker, but I don't build rotaries (the Devil's aircraft!).

The Vosper MTB and ASR launch are tempting for personal/family reasons.  May invest in a Hudson 'cos I've never built one.

As for the Vintage Classics Jag GR1......whaaaat?  IMHO a mediocre rendition when it first came out, struggling to understand what persuaded Airfix to repop it.

Were I a 1/48 modeller then I'd feel spoilt.  But I'm not.

So I wish Airfix well with the 2025 range and will continue to hold out for a Vintage Classic Skyvan, new mould 1//72 Anson I and Lysander kits plus brand new 1/72 Venom single-seater and Sea Vixen kits.

One in the eye for the poor downtrodden "not a Spitfire crowd" but then again, it is the 80th anniversary of the first flight.

Interesting box art on the rerelease 48th PR.19 though.  Pity they couldn't have put it on the 72nd.  Been wanting to do that scheme for years.

I was thinking of reusing a joke from a road maintenance vehicle seen around here sometimes:

I take part in a lot of their social media "what do you want?" exercises. I've seen literally nobody asking for the old 1/72nd Jag. I've seen loads of people asking for the Skyvan. Likewise loads asking for a new tool Venom, Sea Vixen and Javelin. They've GOT the CAD data for the latter two due to their 1/48th versions. I know it's not as simple as hitting the "scale" button, but it's still a lot easier than having to go out and re-scan them too! Of course, it doesn't mean they haven't noticed: their product planning probably operates three to four years ahead.

Maybe not as spoilt as it might seem. I've broken down the numbers, aircraft only.

New tool:
1/72: 1  1/48: 3 (or 2, I'll explain below)*

New parts:
1/72: 3  1/48: 1 (or 2)*

Re-releases, new schemes:
1/72: 5  1/48 3

Re-releases, existing schemes:
1/72: 3  1/48: 2

*Airfix have announced the Spitfire Mk.IX and TR.9 together,  this is unusual.  They both use the same base kit.  Normally they do this separately so the TR.9 would usually be considered a new parts release.

If you think of it like that, 1/48 only wins out slightly on new tools, and looses out in the other categories.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

im happy that the Puma and Boeing clipper are being reissued, but the rest of the range is just "meh" to me.
if it was the standard H-34 instead of the wessex (unless it has parts for the sikorsky version), it just doesnt do it for me.
the 2-seat spitfire is a very nice and welcome addition, pitty its not 1/72.

Probably issued as a sop to the 1/72 modellers who were  hoping for a new Jaguar. If Airfix think the rehash  might pacify them, while the 1/48 mob get favoured with a brand new kit, then I fear the opposite might be the case. Personally, I think it's a little insulting. As for the rest of the 2025 range, it's a big MEH from me. Not really bothered though. There are plenty other places to spend and, I'll find what I want elsewhere.

Stolly will need the wheels replacing judging by the pictures.  Good to see though (I must be f**kin' psychic) and i'll have a couple please.

How many did you see asking for Spitfires?

Still no sight of the 1/16 Motorcycle kits in the old crap vintage classics range.  And no 1/32 cars this time.  Maybe the Jag (car not plane) didn't sell as well as they wanted.
I have been up for a Hudson (built one as a youth - would like to have another go and do it better) but I just got an old release pre loved.
I built a Jag (plane not car) back then as well but don't feel the same urge to do so again (yet).

I had one of these as a kid.  No idea what happened to it.  Wish I had it know.

It'd be interesting to see how the parts stack up against those in the Accurate Armour resin kit.............................

Does anybody whinge as much as British modellers do when Airfix release a new tool kit that isn't in holy 1/72nd scale?
