Bugger - all the ones that interest me are in the 2nd half of the year.....

As I suspected, UKmail only try to deliver when no-ones home :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: They won't deliver outside office hours or leave the package in a safe place/with a neighbour  I have now told them to return the package to Airfix, and I've cotacted Airfix to try and arrange delivery to another [attended] address. Fingers crossed.

A nice surprise at the Cosford Model show today was that Airfix attended  (they generally do the Airshow in June, but not the model show)
They had on show the sprues and test shots of various new kits including the Lancaster, Typhoon, Gladiator etc (Steel Penguin was very impressed with the Warrior) together with the new humbrol products such as Clear, weathering powders etc.

The Lancaster looked rather tasty, both the test shots, the sprues and the pre-release dambusters display by the host club, however as Wooksta has pointed out in the past whilst the panel lines look really good and will help bring out the model the older tooling with its raised rivets rather than recessed lines is actually the more accurate ( i was sat under the Avro Lincoln with my club and could see first hand the surface detail of the wing and fuselage !).

the Warrior kit is going to steal a lot of my cash!  :tank:  its perfect for wargaming and whifferry.
the fact that the basic one can be built as bare, chobam up armoured or fully bar armoured just makes it all the better .
I may have to see how many i need to purchase to get a multy buy discount at my LHS..

They also had a stereo-litho mould, one of those things that are made in one piece with a  laser and a bath of resin. of the forthcoming 1/72 scale Lightning F6, and it is STUPENDOUS!

Trumpeter and Hasgawa will be yesterday's moulds as soon as Airfix get this one out. The main landing gear doors are things of beauty, always difficult to reproduce with those recessed inner faces, and the rest of the mould is of similar standard.

Matchbox got the gear doors right.

I picked up some Dark Earth weathering powder in the LHS today. The owner was telling me that they've been badgering the Airfix rep for the new paint colours for ages but he says he just can't get them yet....

I'll be experimenting with the weathering powder on my M113 builds.

My feeling is that the M'box doors are a tad too thick, although they have the depressions propeerly moulded. The Airfix ones will be quite a bit thinner if the 'one piece' prototype can be reproduced in production of course.

Yup the Airfix stand was a delight. The Typhoon looke fantastic, especially the Canadian bomb armed one. Nice to see a non rocket firing example in a boxing. Also the Hurricane I, Gladiator (both) and Fw 190 are on the shopping list. The Javelin is massive  :o

Airfix have given me a spring in my step with all their activity so thank ou to them

All sounds fantastic.

Really looking forward to the Lightning (and the earlier versions if they're going to be done). So many Modeldecal sheets to use up !!  and maybe a 'What If' or two
