In a moment of pre-Christmas madness I started on my new Airfix Hurricane I, and yes I KNOW that'll increase the number of my un-finished models to 61.....

What a SUPER thing it is, very nicely detailed and the fabric finish is wondrous to behold. The only issue I have with it is the wing trailing edges are a tad thick and I scraped mine down but without too much success, so I may sand and file them later on. Even though it comes with optional rudders that are mentioned there are some extra bits included that aren't in the instructions, they look like an armoured seat back and an armoured windscreen too.

Needless to say it's NOT going to be a Hurricane I but you'll have to wait for the great unveiling.  ;)

Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

There is a very good build/review going on over at the Airfix Tribute Forum. They highly recommend the kit. I can't wait to get one when they are available over here in the US.

I shall start on my Hurricane post Christmas. The extra bits are probably for the metal wing tooling due in the New Year?
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

WOW, lots of new tools in 1/72, the Tiger Moth and Supermarine Swift are definatly on my list.
i wonder if the Fouga Magister will come with Belgian markings?

1/144 707, im gonna try to get those in larger numbers for KC/RC-135 and E-8 JSTARS conversions

Yes the Magister is going to be done in Irish and Belgian markings according to the new Catalogue

After digging through box I found there's other bits not used in this particular model, like the 3 bladed prop!

oooh

The C-47 is going to be USAAC at Upottery aka as per 'Band of Brothers' and its other scheme is a C47D USAF Alaska with Ski plates.
The Dakota III with the Jeep is RAF in the Far East.

The skis should be interesting. I've got a couple of pics of the ones from Buffalo Airways....and they're a lot bigger in real life than one might imagine !

Probably asked this before, but after replying in the 'wraparound camo' thread, I'm all Hawk right now...has Airfix talked about doing a single seater ? Seems an easy option for them. I'd love to see it, and would be a lot easier than trying to 'do it yourself at home'

Probably the best option as i dont think Airfix would do a Hawk 200 as we didn't use them

Looks nice but a little pricey...if Airfix did them I could get 2-3 complete kits for the price of one conversion ! But the RAF not using them makes sense as to why Airfix wouldn't kit them. Just a 'tough' looking little fighter tho....

There's the old Matchbox 200 if you can find it.

Anyone know of any decals for the ski-equipped C-47 "Tropical Tilly" from The Thing From Another World?
