Gondor

I think that version has been out before around about the time that the RAF version came out.

It has, but with a different decal sheet.

I'm confused: I thought the -F had the 6-3 and the -E didn't, so how can this model, with only one wing set in the box, represent both?

Ah, answered my own question: the -E(M) represented by the kit is an ex-RAF Canadair Sabre F.4, refitted with the 6-3 wing and exported to other NATO states.

See? I SAID there were a zillion different wings for Sabres. It's a 'Whiff-in-a-box'.  ;D
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

AMW has reported the reason for the current Airfix sales mania: they've just moved the warehouse to a new all-Hornby, all computerised facility near Canterbury, so presumably the sales have been to reduce the amount of stuff they need to relocate.

Also in AMW, a good build article on the "new" 1/72nd Magister, showing how good it can be made to look despite it's raised detail, and Glory Be! No exaggerated panel wash! admittedly that's partly because she's done an Irish one and they were faded rather than dirty, but it still makes an instructive contrast with the cartoon-like Canadian F-5A in the same issue that looks like a 3D stained glass window by comparison.

Yeap, plus they are about to release the 2015 catalogue so its an easy way to run down surplus stock thats not going to carry over to 2015.

Popular opinion on Britmodeller holds that it's a Beaufighter. However, I'm secretly hoping that it's a DH Hornet...

Ooooh, Beaufighter! Don't think it's a Hornet - fuselage is too deep, big tail fin, no spinners on the props...

And rounded wing tips --- how about an Airspeed Oxford though ---

Well, I finally got my bloody Lightning F.6. I'm holding off to it for dear life now. I guess I'll wait another six months for the Swift.
