But the darn things exist, they have them in the USA. It's not a production issue, it's a marketing one and their Marketing Director should be SHOT!

COMPLETELY WRONG !!!!

it IS A PRODUCTION issue many of that one batch that went to America have a moulding flaw with ejector pin marks on the fuselage, thats what halted production as QC was shoddy at the Indian sub contractor. Given the revised date again it would suggest the improved QC was not enough and the tool may have had to be redesigned to resolve the problem. Its got bugger all to do with marketing the kit, as they can't market what they don't have.

Just seen that myself! :banghead: :banghead: I shan't be holding my breath for the Shackleton any time this year [or even early in 2016] :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Why ?, the Defiants appeared on schedule this month, the Swift is just a bit of a lemon as a tool, the original tool was dropped forcing the first delay, then QC standards falling in Indian delayed quite a bit of stuff last year, and finally a new moulding defect came to light which delayed it again, and it appears to require yet another new tool thus another delay just as the 2015 and 2014 backlog are being produced.

please sir, can I pick the device they are shot with?  ;D

a live blue steel from a RAF Bomber Command QRA Victor B2 would be my first choice naturally....  :banghead:

but borrowing an USAF A-10 with its 30mm cannon and a full tank of ammunition would be a good modern alternative. its only a shame that they aren't
based in Suffolk anymore. then they wouldn't have far to fly.....  :banghead:

does anyone think that airfix oughta airfreight in some swifts to the UK?

hmm, smuggling 21st century style for these  :banghead: :banghead: kits is almost a good idea methinks.

but i'll wait. but please airfix hurry up!

But you know that and we don't, or didn't.............
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Tooling issues aside. I was under the impression that sending the first batch stateside was a dispatch screwup in India.
I always hope for the best.

I was able to get my Swift from Wheels and Wings, a nice well stocked Hobby Shop located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, 3 weeks ago.

What ?! I wonder what's going on with my guy here in town. I'd better give him the heads up.

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

thanks mossie!

i'm of the opinion airfix have done well with this kit.

when I looked at mine this morning, I note three canopy options which are going to be very useful for upgrading the old kit
and for whiffing, never mind building the new one!

No probs Trev!  I guess they've finally made up for the old kit!

I've seen it mentioned in both the build above and the review build in Airfix Model World that the trailing edges are too thick.  I've got the Mushrooms Model guide on the Defiant and I believe Airfix have got it right.  It's hard to see from photos unless it's at the right angle, but the Defiant's trailing edges are squared off, ailerons should be thinner though.

I'll be able to tell better when I get one in my hands, itching to do so.  I was hoping someone local might have one in but I'm getting impatient, I might just have to order one off t'web.

all this talk on this site about the new airfix defiant makes me wonder if the best use for the type would have been as a two seat
advanced trainer with the second cockpit where the gunner was?

:banghead: still, mr airfix man. where's the UK's allocation of swifts? april is a looooooooong time away :banghead:
