Captain Canada

Great box art on both ! I'd love to do a few giant scale aeroplanes like that....the car door version would really be an interesting piece.

Both new variants reasonably predictable of course, but nonetheless welcome.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

My LHS owner thinks the Mossie in new, but I told him it wasn't. He was also wondering about the Halifax, I told him that was the old one as well.

Did you check Scalemates? I'm sure you did. The last new tool was 1975 for the Mosquito.

I noticed that the He 111 box art has the 111 going down in flames. Not your usual choice of scene...

It is if you're British!  It's also worth hammering home to those foolish Germans who insist that they didn't lose the Battle of Britain.

The Mossie has new art but the kit was slightly retooled in the late 90s to include a radar nose and four blade props.

Scalemates may be good but is only a guide, not definitive.

Good point. There are the "new parts" releases and the complete retool. It would be nice if the manufacturers would indicate that new box art does not necessarily mean a new tool kit.

Hmmmm, an Airfix Mosquito (solid nose) played a big part in my modelling youth back in the 70's.  I must get hold of the '75 version to accompany the old tool Beaufighter I got for the same reason.  Also an old tool Blenheim IV (moulded in Sky Blue IIRC) and a B25 (silver - and still being made!).

Thanks guys. I was actually wondering about scalemates earlier in the day, as I was looking at something else. But I do find the place hit or miss.....

Going back to the old way of doing things  The Kate box art has some huge explosions occurring on one of the Battleships at Pearl. Someone more knowledgeable can probably identify the ship.

Hopefully they will do the Skua to go with it !

Yes please although I have a couple of SH ones.

The Dogfight double boxing of the Kate and Wildcat is out but not the Wildcat on it's own yet
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

There's a double-page of test shots of the Airfix 1/72 Avro Shackleton MR.2  in Airfix Model World October issue pages 14-15.
This begs the question of all the internal detailing, as you won't be able to see much of it through the fuselage windows or glazed cockpit. Having said that, still looks impressive.
The build is in the next issue of AMW.

Captain Canada

I think some people just enjoy building the interior detail. Make it more of a representation of the real thing ? I dunno.....if you can't see it I don't bother. Still looking forward to seeing the kits come out tho.

I'm definitely going to get the Shack, but I'll probably consign a lot of the interior to the spare parts boxes. I've been following WR963's restoration so that's the bird for me!

The detailing is actually what can been seen from the Cockpit, the nose or from the open door as the rest area where the turret can be fitted is devoid of details when compared with the visible sections. Yes you won't be able to pick up much of the detail in the console section, but probably easier to be accurate than fake it so it looks busy.

Looks like you'll just have a bunch of seats to toss in the spares box anyway.....

The Yak was posted on site already. Still funny tho !
