There are surviving Victors. And I'd be very surprised if the drawings weren't in an archive somewhere.

Our own Howard of Effingham probably has his own personal set of Victor drawings.  ;D

...I'm counting down to SMW and their BIG announcement, but we all know it'll just be a 1/24 Rotodyne...
;D

A Victor.  How does that tie in with their announcement "no new moulds unless we can scan a survivor or use original drawings"?

[/quote]

They have the original drawings, they posted a snapshot up on the Airfix facebook page last year as a teaser and somebody was able to zoom in to spot the HP.80 reference. They can also LIDAR a number of airframes, as Elvington confirmed Airfix had done thiers at the IPMS AGM this summer, (They have LIDAR'd quite a few aircraft butr as kits are on a flexible 3 yr schedule it can be hard to predict which will come out when.

They have a full set of Rotodyne drawings right?

I'd somehow scrape together the cash for a 1/24 or 1/32 scale Rotodyne...

I'm making an educated guess, but I would imagine the LIDAR scanning happens at an early stage so if an aircraft is scanned, it might not be a 100% guarantee that it hits the shelf.  I'm assuming the same data is used for the Corgi diecasts as well and they don't always relaease models in both plastic and metal?
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

What is the difference between a Wildcat & a Martlet?  Can't be much tooling required.

They must be saving the Rotodyne for the 2016 Line Up Announcement...

I really think having the Martlet as a "new kit" is cheating. But the Stuka and Victor more than make up for it!

Victor B2

Great...... I better start saving my pennies for that release. Lots of possibilities or options. Straight B2 with conventional ordinance, B2 with Blue Steel, B2R, SR2 and K2 options.... and that's without whiffing.....

Gondor

Edit: Having looked at the Airfix site I am really looking forward to this time next year when Airfix say they are releasing the Victor B2. It includes the Blue Steel missile, so no fiddling around trying to fit the Blue Steel from the Airfix Vulcan under the Matchbox K2! Also they say " It will also benefit from the impressive development and production processes now in place at Airfix, with the associated detail levels such as the inclusion of the Blue Steel missile in the first release." which indicates that there will be further versions in the future which could also include a PR pack sold separately as with the Valiant. Vulcan in a couple of year time perhaps? It would make sense as Airfix is now releasing two of the three V bombers and the existing Vulcan is rather long in the tooth.

Fifty-Four pounds is a bit steep, though.  I am sure it will be worth it though.   I just hope the exchange rate improves by then!   :banghead:

Another one from the show is the new Sea King HAR3 RAF Rescue kit based upon the new Commando kit.

The new Victor looked sweet even though it was just a resin prototype painted up

Yes, and it looks pretty good, but as the only ones there were inside the big glass case you couldn't check measurements etc. It looked right to me, so I don't know what all the business is about the wings.

There are Airfix Shacks EVERYwhere, including an RAAF one on our stand.

Yeap the Revell Shackleton was there as were the sprues, the seperate forward fuselage section hints at a possible alternative boxing, but the wings and rear fuselage would suggest more an MR1/T4 than an MR3. Its got rivet detail rather than panel lines of the Airfix kit, so i think it will be horses for courses and the pair will look odd when posed together !

Airfix seemed non-commital on the Airfix AEW so that makes me wonder if the AEW parts we have seen on the test shot may actually be an Airfix Club special ?
