Based on a photo of a support jack they posted during last week, speculation abounds that the big 1/72 model this time will be a new Sunderland.

But as Lee pointed out, the Italeri one doesn't make Airfix any money.
I suppose it would be done from drawings or is there one left somewhere to scan?

The Italeri one also has those panel lines which look as though they've come from a die cast kit, and yes there is an extent Sunderland at Hendon.

There's one in Hendon, Duxford and another in New Zealand.  Plus there's a civilian one somewhere.

Given Hornby's difficulties, I doubt Airfix will give us anything big - although a Lincoln in 72nd wouldn't go amiss (engineering drawings and one at Cosford to measure up/scan) - but more likely some more 72nd single and twin engined jobs (Wellington is overdue for a retool) and 48th single seaters. 

Smart money would be on a 72nd Mosquito, especially with one back on flying condition plus plenty of airframes to work from but I suspect that they'll take the safe option and go for a single stage Merlin type, rather than a two stage later mark that isn't available.

A new Mossie would be nice (if only because it'd be cheaper than the Hasegawa and Tamiya ones), but I'm still waiting on a single-seat Venom! Or a bigger Tiger Moth. Or a new Vulcan. Or a Spitfire XIV low-back.

The Victor was announced last year, before Hornby's difficulties were apparent.  I doubt we'll get anything of the same size.

That's asking for too much! Even though it would be such a major seller! If we're talking that route, though, a Fox Moth would be fantastic.

But the counter argument to that is that if they invest in large tooling, they surely expect a return on their investment. If everyone has the Italeri kit in their garage, sales will likely not be brisk. And that could lose them money rather than make it.
