On the Airfix Facebook page some time ago there was picture of a rather specific Hanger interior where the Airfix team were doing Lidar, and it was worked out the Hanger was Duxford one and that a Sea Fury was the aircraft in that specific location at the time. Nothing more to go on as yet.

I remember that photo. I was tremendously excited because there were so many options in that hangar. From memory Phantom XV474 is resident there, for example. But after that initial tease they went dead silent about it.

Some new airliners would be nice.

But Airfix just don't seem 'get' airliners these days and Revell have much of the market sewn up.

Boats Baby although there are precious few to Lidar.

Still think if they did 1/72 AA weapons they could clean up in the scratch build and naval modelling sectors . If they could just do the Boots from the rescue launch which I imagine is impossible  due to how moulds are done they'd probably  sell a few .

Either that or conversion kits based on some of their own back catologue from Airfix magazines .

Airfix are doing a 1/48 scale P-51D modelled on 'Big Beautiful Doll' by the look of it.

The long-awaited and oft-delayed 1/48 P-40B came out last week (mine's inbound via Hannants as NZ's likely not to see it until sometime next year) and, overnight or so, the brand-spanking-new 1/72 B-17G was released.

That's good. The Trumpeter release was a curate's egg and needed work so the market for a new kit is strong.

Think that's a recce pod converted from a fuel tank, though I could be wrong!

Good choice for a new release, even though due to the scale it's one I won't be buying.

I believe I predicted the Sea Fury based on my recent acquisition of two Trumpeters and a Frog.  Wrong scale though.

Research, design and tooling costs would be pretty much the same with 1/48 as for The One True Scale but they can be sold for a higher price.

Yup and with modern computer aided design scaling down should be relatively painless ?
