Those CAD rendered images are extremely promising! I might pick one up myself. I wonder if they will produce the RAF versions as well.

New Victor displayed at Telford this year.   Unfortunately both schemes are for a Blue Steel armed aircraft only, therefore no standard bomb doors are included in the kit apparently.

The Phantom'd be better in 1/48.

Then I'd need to find a 1/48 F-4E to cross with it to create an Australian hybrid E/K with internal gun & Spey engines. ;D

See post #3596 above.....
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

I'm pretty sure somebody will produce a set of resin bomb bay doors for the Airfix Victor, along hopefully with bomb racks

Interesting to see there has been more talked about the new Phantom than the ready to be released Victor, or any of the other three Lithographed models Airfix had previously announced.

Has anyone done an FG.1 with an F-4E nose? Interesting to see that.

Yes, well I used the F-4M rather than the K http://www.whatifmodellers.com/index.php/topic,39452.0.html

Well, I'm certainly ready for the Victor. I had already completed the Vulcan and Valiant, and was circling round the Matchbox kit when Airfix made their announcement. Of course all work stopped at that point til the new Airfix kit is available. Given the lousy distribution in the US of Airfix kits I'll likely have to spring for it from the Big H, and the probable postage is already sending a chill down my spine... It'll be nice to have relatively modern kits of all three V-bombers (well, the Vulcan is definitely old tech).

I think the critical mass for the Victor may have peaked, slipping the release till after Telford might have been a bit of a clanger as with it being UK produced surely they could have got a batch ready for the show and that way they could have sales at the show and a lot more talking about the kit as some would have it now and would be talking it up.

Speaking of the V-Bombers anybody noticed the going rate for Valiant's these days on eBay ?, now getting rare, just as the interesting B2 conversion set is available,

I find it easier to get excited about something I can afford.  I'd love a Victor to whiff but at the price its likely to be here its a "special" buy (birthday, xmas, tax rebate, accidentally find myself in the LHS after a liquid lunch - that sort of thing).

Don't take ebay as any real benchmark.  Second hand traders were flogging them for between £30 and £40 over the weekend - I paid £35 having missed one for £30 by about 15 seconds!

The exchange rate is definitely favorable, but Hannants just went through and revised a number of their GBP prices, presumably to reflect the effects of the stirling crunch on their wholesale prices. One kit I was looking at went from 95 GBP to 120 GBP, an increase of nearly 30%. Presumably the timing was such that the new prices would be there for the Telford show. Another manifestation of "you snooze you lose". I did, and I did.
