NARSES2

Hornby (Airfix's parent) was in the financial press today. Results are still not encouraging and the restructuring continues. They will close their remaining concessions in shops next year and drastically reduce the product line, remember this is Hornby so covers trains, diecast etc not just Airfix. Indeed from my reading it is the diecast end which will see the largest reduction in range.

Share price fell again but the pundits are split, some are a bit pessimistic but an equal lot think the restructuring will work. Time will tell.

Intersting couple of years ahead. Even though a lot of the kits are now produced in the U.K. the cost of raw materials will increase due to the drop in the value of the £ so we will see price increases next year what ever happens. So as I said an interesting couple of years ahead.
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Well had a quick snoot at the Victor and its impressive, it is made in the UK so the plastic is a looks a tad darker and may possibly be a tad harder than what we have got used to. The detail on the kit itself looks good and the good news is it appear the bomb bay doors both open and closed are still included in the kit although not mentioned in the instructions, so you can build it with a conventional bomb bay as opposed to the new Blue Steel which looks quite good too.

Possible opening for aftermarket crew to do the 1000lb bomb pallets or alternative bomb load.

Maybe the Valiant add-on PR bomb doors could be made to fit? Or just drill holes in the closed ones and fill with Kristal Klear?
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

I read the review in the Airfix Model World January 2017 issue 74. Retailing at £59.99,whereas the Matchbox/Revell kit is closer to a crisp twenty pound note. By the time you've added on the aftermarket parts you'll still have change from £60.

A teaser on the Airfix advent calendar (December 3rd) suggests a B-25D Mitchell. http://www.airfix.com/uk-en/advent-calendar

Apart from the Mitchell teaser there's not been any reveals yet. Maybe today's (4.5hr away here, tomorrow GMT) announcement - a week into the month - will be a bit more exciting than the comps and discounts?

A Mitchell?  Meh.  Another kit I won't have to spend any money on.

I did order a solitary Victor from Uncle Frank.  I can't see me wanting any more.  What's more, it'll probably be real - the only whiffed Victor I want to do is an RAAF tanker version and the Matchbox kit is more than adequate for that.  So much so, there's a part started one somewhere in the stash.

Valiants and Vulcans have far more mileage.

Has anyone gotten their hands on the new Airfix Victor?

How does it compare to the Matchbox / Revell rendering?

Quite a few have mentioned they have the new Victor B2 above, and from viewing the one Airfix had at Telford it's MASSIVE improvement on the older M'box/Revell offering. As it's a B2 it has the long span wings too............

Ah, but surely it needs even longer wings.

That goes without saying Jim.  ;D

If ever I can afford to get one, you can be assured that mine will have.

In the meanwhile I may 'do things' with my two remaining M'box Victors on that front........... ;)
