Thorvic

Well first impressions from what we can see of the test sprues they are really good, we can't see the detail close up but the features included are what we were hoping for and more. Full intake trunking, dropped flaps and slats as well as adjustable tail planes to go with the extended leg for a true hot to trot cat launch, we have the optional folding nose, folding outer wings for parked up or deck lift and even the extended radar avionics for hanger maintenance  the tip of the early fin looks a little too rounded down but the rest looks pretty good, although the ILS side aerials will need removing from a RN FG1.

Love the markings which complement the after market sets quite well to give a full coverage of the Royal Navy Phantom use. I will be happy building the various RN FG1 units, both real and the projected ones and their respective ships.

Should be interesting to see how soon in 2018 we will see the FGR2 boxing and what RAF units they choose as ideally they should do Early, mid 70s camo ones with the different roundels and the late ADV grey scheme possibly with an RAF FG1 special boxing with a mix of the parts for 43 and 111 squadrons.

I must admit I'm seriously tempted to get one, even at that price, but I suspect the entire first production batch will have already been ordered by Thorvic and OGL!  ;D ;)

I have a couple pre ordered as well with the idea of doing one RAF as well as one as RN at the moment, this could change.

Its nice to see that the underside of the wings is provided as two separate options, with and without the strengthening plate, I may change my mind about my late RAF whiff F-4 that I am building and use the strengthening plate option from one of the Airfix kits I have on order added into a Fujimi F-4M but that would be a lot of work but might look nicer that thin card or paper added to the underside of the wing.

Gondor

Just use a bit of tracing paper on the spare part if we get both in the kit... (Only a test shot and those gates may be closed for FG1 production ! )

Have to admit that I had not thought that they might close the gates on the strengthened under wing part for the RN boxing's. I have a cunning plan that is more cunning than a cunning fox already in motion at my usual glacial pace anyway.

No contest, a 1/72 Hunter as Revell seem reluctant to make any more of their wonderful version.

A current technology Airfix Hunter would be truly AWESOME!

I was thinking the same myself Kit, perhaps with the inboard underwing Sidewinder pylons as used by the Swiss and Singapore Air Forces.

1/72 Buccaneer - goes with the Phantom
1/72 Javelin - scale down the 1/48th kit
1/72 Sea Vixen - as above
1/72 Sea King HAS1/5 - Finally do the ASW version  (go well with the Phantom & Buccaneer  ;) )
1/72 Scimitar - the xtrakit one is OOP and wasn't really that clever
1/72 Westland Wasp
1/72 Westland Wildcat as its now replaced the Lynx
1/72 C-130K Hercules about time we had a decent version

A new tool Mosquito bomber with two stage Merlins.  Tamiya do a superlative one with single stage, plus an NF2/FB6.  There are currently no two stage Merlin Mosquitos in 72nd so Airfix would be stupid if they didn't go for a later mark.

TBH, if they broke the mould down correctly - even if they copied the Tamiya one - they could get every mark out of one set of tooling.  Just needs a bit of thought

Buccaneer, Battle, Javelin, C-130, and just to give the fellow compiling the list a laugh, a Beverley. All in 1:72 of course.
All hail 1:72!

All in glorious 1/72, obviously.
My top three would be: a Bucc, a Sea Vixen and a new Puma (desperately needed!).

After that, in no particular order: a new Gazelle, a new Super Etendard, a Venom, Wasp/Scout, a Seafire FR.46/47 kit along the lines of their F.22. And, somewhat out of the left field, a new Viggen and Mirage 2000.

And if they could release their new Mitchell as a J, that would be kinda nice of them as well.

EDIT: Oh, and a decent Army Lynx in 1/72 would also be most welcome!
Cheers,
Moritz

I LOVE that idea, but it may presage a world styrene shortage.  :o

a Seafire FR.46/47 kit along the lines of their F.22.

TBH, they could rerelease their F22 as a Seafire 46 with the addition of an extra sprue containing the parts for a contra-rotating prop and the sting section of teh rudder.  All it takes is a tiny bit of surgery to the fuselage.  I've done it - here's the first one I did

Adittedly, it uses a CMR prop and the stinger is spare in the Special Hobby late series Spitfires but it's not difficult at all.

A Seafire 47 would require new wings, clear sprue and fuselage, not to mention u/c doors and radiators.  Probably better to tool a new kit.

Done.  I can't see how repeating "Fairey Rotodyne" 14 times can possibly fail?

Aren't Special Hobby doing one ? Or are they doing a fighter version ?

Anyway I'd like to see a Tempest V to go with the Typhoon.
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

The Wooksta!

SH are doing a bomber nose, bull nose NF and the high altitude NFXV.

A Tempest II would be better than a V, largely as Academy have one out currently that's decent and the V didn't really serve much post war.  The II did, plus you've export markings also, so more bites of the cherry.  Plus the Matchbox and Special Hobby kits of the II are hard to find.
