Thanks for the stand photos, they're the first I've seen from Airfix this year.

Nope the workbench covers a lot of future releases coupled with a rather limited new and re-release schedule rendered it somewhat redundant. No early news either so the first we will see is the schedule as released at the end of the month and hopefully a new 2018 catalogue which will probably cover the Centenary of the RAF and the end of WW1.

I received an email announcement last night that the Airfix 1/72 Blenheim Mk. IV is now available.   Not my popular choice but I am sure others will find it interesting.

It's a re-boxing of the recent release, with Free French and 107 Sqn markings.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Not me.  I'm still racking my brain trying to come up with a plan for my Mk 1.
Airfix know what I want and I am confident 2018 will see it being announced.

Was less than impressed with that post and said as much in their comments page as considering they played the Christmas period for all it was worth to build up anticipation of their next years catalogue, once the released it at SMW, other times Christmas Eve or New Years Eve or New Years Day.

However I suspect the delay probably ties in with the fact that are probably closed down for Christmas for two weeks and that with their financial situation there's not going to be a great deal of new items to be really excited about. The SMW reveal was no doubt pulled to give them something new to announce for the new Catalogue as opposed to the alternative boxing's and reissued kits we are likely to get. I don't think there will be too much to cheer about although some will no doubt be very happy with whatever gets announced.
Unfortunately whilst they have done a lot of data gathering for new kits, the financial situation means they are unable make the investments they would like into developing new tooling's and we'll have to make do with what's more cost effective and occasionally flawed.

Expect to see a string RAF bias with some WW1 types, probably:-
Wellington B1 - Already announced
B-25 Mitchell C/D - Already Announced
1/48 Blenheim I - Already Announced
Phantom FGR2 - FG1 kit with new/different sprue
Victor Tanker
B-25 Mitchell - bound to be RAF boxing of revised variant
Wellington II - CGI image accidently showed Merlin variant
Me262 two seater - parts breakdown show alternative options
P-51 mustang - bound to be another boxing
Possible export Sea Fury
something new RAF in 48th (its where their best people are - thus the Phantom ending up a bit of lemon as done by nugget whose now been kicked into touch
possible new Sopwith Camel probably in 72nd - shown in Airfix Mag calendar and will go with other WW1 releases.

I was all set to try and build a Type 142 lookalike until I realised that would have meant lowering the wings.

Not model related but the latest Airfix Club magazine received via e-mail today has a fantastic artilcle on the history of Airfix's packaging. Some wonderfully nostalgic pictures and I forgot they are as old, or young, as me
