The Wellington will do me although I'd like to see them do a late model Seafire in 1/72.

A Seafire F46 would be a quick and easy one for them to do from their F22 kit - new sprue for u/c doors, contraprop and sting hook section, the latter would need some minor surgery to the existing kit, but nothing that would tax an imbecile.

Had notification from Airfix that the 2 x Phantom FG1's I pre-ordered back in November 2016 have arrived at the Airfix warehouse and payment has been taken.

So should be delivered by weekend and appear on shop shelves from then, just a shame they couldn't get them in time for Christmas.

No notification about the two I have on order from they as yet, good to know that they are at least in the country though.

*EDIT* 03/01/18 Just checked the Airfix web site and my order is "Processing" so I should see my two soonish.

*EDIT* 04/01/18 Now marked as shipped on their site but no notification or tracking information!

Airfix Phantoms are now being shipped out so also likely to be in some LMS by weekend and third parties should be transhipping them soon.

In other news their Workbench covers review of the 2017 workbenches and news of a 'spectacular' new tool announcement with the 2018 range launch on the 9th. Not sure quite how to read that but I suspect that may be the one and only 'new' tool to be announced with likes of the 48th Blenheim, 72nd Wellington & Mitchell already revealed, expect the rest to be alternative tooling's of recent kits or re-issues possibly with fresh decal options.
Now I could be wrong and they are just implying one Spectacular new tool to knock your socks off, with other somewhat less spectacular tools also announced, but I doubt it.
We will probably see new tools announced again through the later half of the year again on the Workbench thread but I suspect they will be keeping their commitments small for the time being and not over extend themselves until the financial situation improves somewhat.

I'd be delighted if it were a Vulcan. I've built the original, but wouldn't mind having one to the same level of quality as the Victor and Valiant.

I'm surprised they've not done WW1 and Cold War airfield sets

I thought they'd be nice steady earner with people buying multiple for conversions if they picked the right vehicles.

Hmm, yes. 1/72 1960's airfield fire engine and fuel truck would be nice.

I thought I would be looking forward to the Mitchell but i'm not. I think maybe I was traumatised building the old mould as a kid

Well we have suggested both Cold War and Modern Airfield sets, especially after they did the RAF bombers set, however with their restriction to purely more profitable aircraft due to Hornby's tight financial situation any plans will be stuck on the drawing board for the next couple of years.

Airfix's problem is the financial constraints it has to work with, they have had to moderate their ambitions and downsize their development team to fit the model dictated to them by Hornby so whilst they have quite a bit of research and model proposals in their project books, they only have limited resources to implement a small number of those projects.

Anyway we will discover what 2018 will bring on Tuesday the 9th at 10:00am UK time, don't set expectations too high, there will be stuff there that we will like and want to build, just not a great deal of them and we may see more news later in the year on their Workbench page of new tools for early 2019.

Having mysteriously been infected by 1\72 floaty things flu some time ago my expectations are quite modest

from all companies .

Unless they re release the coastal defence and gun emplacement at a fiver a go. So I can pillage them for parts .

Revell are doing a new PT-109 in 72nd which should be rather tasty
