My LHS, all one of it and 30 miles away at that, stacks their kits end on because they can display many more kits that way with their limited length of shelves, and I had a discussion about that with the owner maybe a year ago.

I suspect you need a big shop to be able to display them all face on. My #1 daughter (not the one who's 'The RAF's Best etc etc.....) used to manage the model dept. of a big department store in Oxford, and both Revell and Airfix insisted that they displayed their kits face on, no matter how hard she tried to explain that she could get many more on show with them stacked end on. She got around it by displaying them at an angle so that one kit overlapped another by a small amount, and showed some of the face and one end.

I'll ask her about the 'upside down' side business and see what she thinks.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Kit

I'm actually in the process of sorting/tidying up my stash at the moment and can feel some experimentation coming on. The empirical part of my brain has started to stir a little  ;D

That could be down to the printing process.
The sequence of color laydown could be an issue but more likely it may be to do with making printing plates work better, depending on the direction of the rotation of the anolox and roller the plate is mounted on etc etc etc.

Gould! ive been out of that buisness two and a half years and I can still recall most of that guff...........................................................

After having a look at the Phantom and Sea King kits which are my most recent Airfix kits to hand I noticed that my Sea Sprite from 2001 has the same format so its been around for quite some time

And you'll carry on remembering it Martin. I can still remember the detail of loads of stuff and I retired from the steel industry 11 years ago.

Got my latest Airfix News yesterday and whilst not new there's a couple of interesting new boxing's of some of their recent kits.

The 1/72 Tiger Moth is being re-issued with markings for an example serving with the Royal Navy at RNAS Abbotsinch in 1962 and the one I'd be interested in, an overall foliage green one serving with the RAAF in Papua Guinea in August 1945.

In 1/48 the re-released Me 109E will include markings for a Royal Yugoslav AF one amongst the 3 options.

If you like their Mk.1a Spitfire then head down to Home Bargains where they are £2.99 each. Scalemates says these are the US release with the brush and paints inside the box. Still the same plastic!

The Wooksta!

They've still got some left?  They've been selling these for months.  I suspect they're all the ones that were produced for the Daily Mail offer some time back.  I have quite a few and have decided that I have more than enough Airfix mk Ias.

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Sheeeet! and I don't want to go 1/48 -----    :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

It looks lovely doesn't it?  If you've got a craving for Meteors, in 1/72, I can vouch for the Special Hobby/MPM kits, they're pretty good.

Can't have enough Meteors!  I have a T.7 and F.8 in the Xtrakit boxings, with the idea of doing a T.7 1/2.  Of course, they brought one out soon after!

Funilly enough my plan was to do one of the Martin Baker test beds.
