The majority of advent calendars do not have the days in order,

Well, today I learned!

In my defence we were too poor for advent calendars when I was young.  I just had to count the days to Christmas with chalk tallies on my bedroom wall

[ Hovis music plays in background ]

You had chalk? In my day we had to pull a tooth and scratch the days into the rotten post holding up the roof.  ;D

You had a ROOF! :o You lucky b@$_@rd!

When I were a lad we were so poor we 'ad t' scratch t' days in t' dirt wiv our fingers, we couldn't afford sticks let-alone teef.

;) ;D

Digging through the Flight archives, a Britannia was very nearly added to the Queen's Flight in mid-1956 but the decision was taken to rely on the RAF and BOAC for long-range flights.

Any updates on the 1/48 Hunter?  Seems like when they first announced it they were saying November, then it slipped to December, now the website says January.

Any idea why the delay? Any updates on an actual release date?  Been waiting eagerly all year!
So I got that going for me...which is nice....

NARSES2

According to the Big H the 1/48 Hunter and 1/72 Me 262B will be delivered to them this week. So nearly there

-all kinds of things.

The Wooksta!

Those that pre-ordered them have already been informed that they're enroute.

Tomorrow? I thought it was a week or so to go until they announce their new releases?  I only want three things:
72nd Spitfire Vc or XIVc highback
72nd Bomber nose Mosquito with two stage Merlins
72nd DH Venom single seater

I'm going to predict another boxing of the Beaufighter TF.X with the thimble nose. There's definitely another Wellington to come, possibly two.  Possibly a new boxing of the Spitfire F.22 with new decals.

Its nice that they have changed their system again, they were going to a rolling release throughout the year were the new product woud be announced on the workbench and would follow periodical updates as the kit developed to release, however this came to the fore last winter when they had nothing new left in the cupboard to announce for the trade fairs so had to pull the 48th Hunter release from SMW 2017 till the catalogue release.

They have announced the 48th Spitfire XIV and the 24th Hellcat but have kept back everything else for tomorrow so there is a lot of interest, it also different in that their are not a great deal of 2nd boxing options open as a lot of those came out this year. I think we can expect the 1/72nd Wellington II as that was mistakenly shown in cgi detail clip for the original kit and I guess we will see a 2nd boxing of the Hunter.

As for whats new it should be interesting but don't set expectation to high, as they only have a certain amount of new kit capacity and funding is tight so their are likely to be something new mainstream WW2 in 72nd, something new in 48th in addition to the spit and hopefully something cold war in 72nd. We may also see some of the newer tooling's re-issued again, however I do expect them to focus a bit more on the classic range to re-issue kits in their back catalogue as these are these are cheaper to do, use their existing moulds as they are an asset and they might as well use them.

I didn't realise they'd stopped making it!

That's pretty stupid really, as the ancient Vulcan seems to have been made for ever! There's only three Valiants on ebay, all around the £40-50 mark!  :o

Yeah I was working in Spamland when it originally came out and thought to myself "oh I'll stock up on those when I get back to Blighty". When I did eventually remember to do so I got the dreaded "No Products Found" from Hannants...

What we need is a Valiant to the Sky campaign! Then they'll hand them out them like candy.
