I'd love to have a Beaufort.  IIRC, one of the three who escaped from Stalag Luft III (using the Wooden Horse) was a Beaufort pilot - Oliver Philpot.

The armour side has been quiet for a while, good to see they're moving into 1/35 with the Cromwells and replacing some of their 1/72 mainstays.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Always surprised they haven't done any conversion sets . There are all those articles from Airfix magazine back in day .I'm surprised there isn't a way they can capitalise on those . Obviously  some will be obsolete but I'm sure there were some conversions  for RAF rescue launch that might be be useful

Peter Butterworth (he of the Carry On films - and also the Meddling Monk in several early Doctor Who episodes) was also part of that escape.  Fun fact - when he auditioned for a part in the film about it, the director said no, he didn't look the part.

Very happy about the Beaufort but ecstatic about the Spitfire Vc - they've listened and not gone for the easy, boring and predictable mk Vb.  I doubt it'll be the mk Ia with a new wing, as they say all new tool and the way the windscreen cutout is on the mk Ia fuselage means the Vc screen is problematic.  However, I'm interested to see what they do.  I've provisionally ordered 6.

So, is it a 'new tool' Vc, or a re-pop of the one they did earlier (which I have in the stash)

If it's a rehash, it'll be a new wing on the mk Ia/IIa/Va kit.  I hope to god it's not the 70s Vb with the vile c wing that was inflicted on us from 2005 onwards.  But I strongly suspect that if they've said new tool, that's exactly what it'll be.

They should produce some new mould 1/35 armour instead of just repopping old academy kits.

Oh yes, even I'd buy one of them!

The range isn't officially announced until 1500 on 6 January - the page from AMW magazine somehow leaked early and has already been taken down (and all threads concerning releases therein scrubbed) from Britmodeller amid much debate.

I'm keen for two Beauforts but my needs are pretty specific: a Mk.V for T9552/A9-13 and a Mk.VII A9-141/VH-KTW...

When they started with the Academy re-pops they said it was to test the market out. So maybe if it's been successful they will do some new tools ? As for smaller scale armour (1/76 or 1/72) virtually the whole range could do with replacing. I'd like to see some WWI and WWII artillery in either 1/72/76 or 1/35. Resin stuff is pricey  :-\

As for the Beaufort ? I'm already thinking of a Soviet Northern Fleet one

Beaufort?  I'm still wanting to do a Hercules engined Beaufreighter and I'd like to do a Merlin engined one too, although I may be able to get away with a crosskit of the Highplanes Merlin Beaufighter and Beaufort.

The news of a new 72nd Spitfire is also one in the clems for a certain member here who predictably will be moaning about it.  He's been wanting Airfix to do a new Vulcan for ages but - again predictably - has been moaning about the cost on Britmodeller.

I may have misunderstood, but I thought the Cromwells were new tools?

My reading of the AMW piece is the Cromwells are new tools in 1/35.

The Beaufreighter was a real Aussie conversion of a Beaufort Mk.IX.
Also there was a fake passenger/freight Beaufighter on ski landing gear in the third Brendan Fraser Mummy film that I want to build some day.
