It's interesting that (as of this post) on Scalemates 33 people (myself included) have added the Beaufort to their wishlist, 20 want the Canuckistani-built Sabre....but only seven want the Spitfire Vc! It seems those of us who have clamoured for a Beaufort for so long are rather vindicated!

I suspect that most on Scalemates (which I consider about as reliable as a chocolate teapot) already have a 72nd Spitfire Vc or several.  If you consider it an accurate barometer of market anticipation, I have some seafront property in Birmingham and a bridge in London that you may be interested in...

Just an update on the Cromwells.
My buddy Dave is the US agent for Airfix and he confirmed on his facebook page that they are indeed new tools from Airfix and he had some input into getting not only the Academy kits into the catalog but in getting them to tool their own 35th scale kits.

He also got an IROC Camero from the mid-80s in their Scalextric slot cars (which is his hobby).

Dave needs to stress to Airfix how much demand there is for a new tool Rotodyne...

...there was a fake passenger/freight Beaufighter on ski landing gear in the third Brendan Fraser Mummy film that I want to build some day...

Yes. It had a yak in it IIRC.

In the film, or in the freighter itself? And if the latter, how do you get a yak in there?

The Film Beaufighter appeared to have a passenger door cut in the starboard side behind the wing, in a later scene one of the characters could be seen firing a MG through this door. The Beaufighter carried very faded Far-East blue/white roundels and SH or SK codes

SK-N  (which you can get in a decal sheet).  It appears to be a Beaufighter Mk.21.  Interestingly, in the movie, it show the sqn code as SK-N on the port side, whereas, all photos of the real aircraft (and other sqn aircraft) show it should be as N-SK, SK-N being just on the starboard side.

ISTR there being a Yak inside the aircraft at one point.

I Can't find the Scammels ?
No-one can! Very odd they're in the AMW piece but not the site...

That's because they are actually new releases from IBG in 72nd and the Magazine have done a FUBAR including it in the Airfix 2020 article

They are new 1/35th scale Cromwell's if you look at the Product Code they fall in the same sequence as the Academy re-boxed armor.

The Airfix 2020 range page is however rather shockingly bad by not including the scales on the page to go with the images, name and price. the details page is also pretty bad the technical spec for the Cromwell's states the scale as 1/72 rather than 1/35. Considering they have had this planned for some time and released later yesterday you would have thought they would have proof read the pages and got a general impression of the pages first !

Interesting range, with some interesting areas such as the new Armor in 35th and 72nd together with the beginner kits to get youngsters started.

Will certainly get the new Beaufort and the Vulcan

I will need the RAF Buccaneer S2B to do RN S2D's but slightly disappointed that they went with the end of service schemes and fit but that's because they were doing the airframe they scanned at Ulster Air Museum, so the obvious alternative scheme was the grey option. The weapons fit on this can also be used for what will likely be a Gulf War boxing next year the bad news however is that we are not likely to see the Maritime Strike option kitted as that would require a new additional sprue.

What's interesting is the missing items, still no Merlin Engine Wellington II, no alternative Mig-17 boxing bar the Dogfight Double

Ah, the long lost art of proof reading  ;) I had an interesting conversation with the editors and publishers of both SAM and SAMI about the whole concept at Telford. Basically they made the right noises but it was obvious they didn't really give a .........................

Talking of proof reading : today's I newspaper thinks its 7th December  :banghead: I had a mate who's mum was a proof reader in Fleet St, lor'd knows what she would think.

Going back to Airfix I'm glad to say that their parents Hornby had a good Christmas period financially. Higher sales and perhaps more importantly higher profit margins. Trading is now on track for the year.

The Spitfire Vc is a complete new tool, given these renders - the cockpit interior looks somewhat similar in breakdown to the Eduard Spits and the u/c has the later rake.

The wing gun blister looks to be moulded integral with the wing - not happy with that as it means changing it for the later narrow one means surgery.

My Bad the Scammell's have been shown in a copy of the Catalogue but have now strangely not appeared with the on-line release.
Still an odd choice highlight the scale difference with their old Tank Transporter which is due for re-issue this winter in their classic series

Has the Tractor with the compactor appeared on the website ?

Sounds like something  from Allo Allo

Maybe they'll do a Scammel with a camel

Checked ot the Airfix website and of the 2020 releases:

Spit Vc would buy had I not already got a Vb plus Airkit conversion bits to go with it.

Beaufort oh yes, and the colour scheme has been selected!

Vulcan not fussed. Have had an old school Airfix Vulcan and oodles of Modeldecals to go with it in the stash ever since the thing was first released!

Buccaneer - the best RAF scheme is the wraparound but I've already got one built so will pass.

Hawk 100 well great colour options and had I not already have one in the stash plus aftermarket decals would have got one.

Ho hum, never mind.  I wish Airfix every success with each of them.

Of the repops am tempted by a Jetstream for whiffery as a 51 Sqn elint aircraft, a Brit equivalent of an RU-21, in a colour scheme akin to the Andover they once had in the early 80s.

Dave, get the Vc because as good as the conversion parts are, they're not a patch on the new tool.  They're a good 30 years old now and the Vb is knocking on 50!  More to the point, they don't give you the internal armour windscreen.

I'm definitely getting a Beaufort or three and I might get a Vulcan.  And I'm only ordering a half dozen of the Vc, due to having lots of the Sword and KPM kits - not to mention all the spares from the Seafire IIIs.

Will certainly be getting a couple of Beauforts and another Buccaneer. Wait and see after that.

I was hoping for a Tempest Mk II and V for 2020. Never mind we get a Beaufort instead  ;D
