Dave, get the Vc because as good as the conversion parts are, they're not a patch on the new tool.  They're a good 30 years old now and the Vb is knocking on 50!  More to the point, they don't give you the internal armour windscreen.

But you always got two in the Vb-based Vc (I've two of these so have the canopies already) plus I've a couple of Aeroclub canopies spare.  And what would I do with the Yugoslav Vc decals I've had stowed away for at least a decade (or rather, the Vc marking options are too tempting, shame nothing more Malta-themed though)!

However, never say never.

The new canopies in the 2005 Airfix Vc are awful and the Aeroclub ones always seemed to be overscale when applied to the Airfix kits.  Plus they tend to yellow with age.

And here's the 64,000 quid question - who'll be the first to offer a mk XII conversion for it?  Colin?

On reflection, it's a fairly simple conversion - new cowling, exhausts, prop (with integral blades?), narrow wing blisters, possibly new wheels and a new rudder.  9 pieces?  You'd only need a new tailwheel plus doors for some of the XIIs and I'm not sure if they had the latter tailplanes from the mk IX.

Cromwell render looks nice. One may well fine its way into the Wombat Stash Burrow.

Does anyone know what has happened to the AIRFIX Club and the use of flying hours? It all seems to be still on the website but I heard it was discontinued.
