I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

The Wooksta!

Having looked at the Spitfire sprues, I'm happy but at the same time disappointed.  Happy, because we've got what appeares to be a decent Spitfire Vc in mainstream 72nd injection and there's a lot in that box to be very happy for - two sets of wing uppers, props, oil coolers, exausts and canopies too.  The cockpit interior looks fabulous too - seat armour and cockpit sides in the Eduard mould too.

What disappoints me?  Well, the wing blisters are the early C wing and as big as those on the B wing but they've done it with both wings.  Now, anyone with some common sense and more importantly knowledge of the subject they're working in might think that with two sets of wing uppers, one could be tailored to one blister and the other to the more common narrow version, which gives the modeller more choice and the manufacturer more opportunity to sell stuff.  Alternatively, the blisters could have been separate parts entirely.  To be fair, there's quite a few things with the wings I would have done differently - separate clipped tips (longer span ones are relatively easy to remove) and moulded in clear, the aforementioned separate blisters, and doing both of these means that having to mould one set of the uppers is now unnecessary.  As it is, anyone wanting the later style has to do some messy surgery and source some separate blisters - and that's not easy to do.

There's another question - does the new wing and canopy fit the older mk Ia tooling?  As those spare uppers could be a reasonable basis for a Vb.

Still, the proof of the pudding is in the eating.  I still want a good half dozen...

Has either of the Beaufighters been deleted from the Airfix catalogue?  Some of the prices on ebay (yeah I know, no real guide to price) are decidedly stupid and one trader is charging 40 fecking notes!

Makes sense, to go with their new range of 1/72 armour.

Looks like it's a counters-and-maps game rather than a miniatures one that you use with models. It's a good toe-in-the-water though: other games have made the move from counters to miniatures before now.

The June edition of Airfix Magazine has pictures of some sprues and the transfer options for the new tool 1/72 Beaufort and Spitfire Mk Vc
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

I'll have to make a 'secret mission' to the local magazine shop to get that then. More subterfuge..........  :o ;) ;D

It'd be pretty easy to substitute models for the counters.  I guess with it being an Introductory set, there are more on the way?

The Airfix Club for 2020 has the 1/72 Kate as the bonus kit.  The decals might interest a few, captured aircraft in surrender crosses and TAIC markings.

I'm just counting down the days until the Spitfire Vc and the Vulcan.
