OK, back to Airfix.  I guess their Vintage Series will be added to so my nominations for resurrections would be the Beaver, Basset, Bulldog T1 and Islander.

The Basset and the Islander next year would attract my cash.

They tried the Basset for their Kitfunded effort and that died a death sadly. Luckily I got in there in time and snaffled a couple.

Light twins are something that never seems to catch on for some reason. :(

I reckon they should re-cut the Islander and make it a Trislander, then you could build either of them from the same kit....  ;)

The Bassett had no set delivery date, a very high price (£15) and no guarantee that it would go ahead if it didn't get enough backers. Some people don't follow Airfix marketing news, want to commit to such gambles or want to pay so much for an old kit.

I suspect that if they'd simply released it on the market at a more reasonable price it would have sold better.

I got in on the Basset issue and scored 3 of them.

As far as Islander to Trislander, that is not the easiest thing to do. You need two Islander kits plus a lot of scratch building and altering. I know I did one way back in the 1970's.

I'd go along with that request, although you can normally pick them up quite easily on the show circuit - remember what that was ?  :-\

I meant they should do it the other way round.

Convert the Islander moulds into a Trislander, and include a different fin etc. so you could make a Tri or a Bi from the same kit.

That wouldn't work, you'd need to make a new mould for the Trislander fuselage because it's very
doubtful that the current mould would have enough room to be recut for the longer fuselage.

Or just have both fuselages in the box? Like they did with the Spit Vc wings.

PR19_Kit

Well, OK, MAKE a new mould for the Tri fuselage.

It's a lot easier to cut one of those down to make a Bi than it is to join 2-3 Bis together to make a Tri.

Not here you can't  I've never seen any at a swap & sell or I would have snapped them up.  The Polish Lancer and the Indian chap are on my list of "Kits I wrecked as a youth and need to make amends to".

The SAM-2 set is also on that list although I understand the moulds n o longer exist so we are not likely to see that back.  Shame, they fetch silly money now.

Yeah, and though the ZIL truck has been released by another maker the rest of the items haven't.
Seems like they would have made good companion pieces, but not to be.

Same with the V2 that someone else made, the rest of the set had to be cobbled up from other sources.

Frustrating.

The Polish Lancer and the Indian chap

The Polish lancer and French Grenadier are the ones you see most often at UK shows, you occasionally see the Indian Army cavalryman, but the ones I haven't noticed are the ECW figures.
