It's an Ill Wind ?

Hornby (Airfix's parent company) have just announced their first half year trading profit in a number of years.  Not a large one, but sales were up 33% on the same period last year mainly driven by people being at home during Lockdown and returning to old hobbies.

Hopefully a few of them will remain

The Beaufort has now had it's release date set as Winter 2020-2021

That'd be about now then................  ;) ;D
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

Seems to be imminent, Airfix have built up two examples on the Workbench blog, in each of the box schemes. Looks very good:
https://www.airfix.com/uk-en/news/workbench/bristol-beaufort-and-cromwell-tank-updates

There's are updates on the 1/35 Cromwell Mk.IV & Mk.VI releases, including paint schemes and some very tasty box art.  Also new box art and markings for the 1/48 Spitfire VB.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

I've got both the Beaufort and 1/72 Spit V on pre-order so I can sit back and relax  ;D

Must admit I was impressed with the Cromwell box art, could even be tempted. Need to see how the tracks are constructed first though.

Metro Hobbies in Melbourne have an Xtradecal Beaufort sheet on their website already.
Going on past performance they won't get an actual kit on their shelves for at least six months after you lot up there get to fondle them.
I note two RAAF DAP Beaufort marking options which will require replacing the engines with Twin Wasps if one is to "do it properly".

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

I have a Twin Wasp spare from the Sea Wallaby build, if you need it, Fred, but it is 1/48.

I was eyeing that sheet the other day and was surprised to see the one in a desert scheme, but with SEAC roundels on a delivery flight out east. I had plans for a desert schemed one, but I do have to say that one of the Malta based aircraft looks tasty.

I think I have a pair from a Catalina somewhere.  Although in 1/72 cowling shape is more important than what is inside them.

The Steward-Davis Super Catalina replaced the R-1830s with R-2600s, perhaps do the same thing with a
Beufort using the engines and cowlings from a B-25?

Rummaging through the stash today and happened upon Airfix, Italeri and Tamiya 1/72 FW190D-9s.

Airfix have replaced there 80s-era FW190A-8 and maybe they'll eventually rebox it as an F-8.

So might they replace the venerable (but still nice - and once boxed by Heller) D-9?  At some point at least, not necessarily 2021.

They already have reboxed the A-8 as an F-8.

You know Gondor I thought they had but couldn't find any indication of their having done so.  Just googled again and up it pops - d'oh!

I use Scalemates quite a bit these days which really helps for finding out this kind of thing.

As do I. A useful tool and thanks to Zenrat for putting me on to it
