If that's the case, I should be building 1/35 stuff, and I am not quite 50......yet

Its  odd given that amount of spare room in New buildd properties is declining for storage of models

PR19_Kit

All driven by accountants............... :(

The social conditions of their customers are the very last things they'll be taking into account.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

True , they're not the Cadbury's but they are well placed to build a Model Village .

I second that! 1/48 and bigger is for old farts with declining eye sight and numb fingers.

...

Wait a minute...

Unfortunately given the way my eyesight and hand/eye co-ordination is going that may well be me in the New Year  :-\

Oooh!  1/72 stash reduction!

No  ;D I've also got an appointment at Moorefields.  ;) Hopefully they can sort something out and on top of that to some extent it's a matter of the mood I'm in and how hard I push myself. I need to relax a little and try and not have to high a series of expectations. Must remember it's a hobby and we can't all model at the highest level, settle for what you can do and enjoy that.

Philosophy lesson over

I was discussing ageing with Mrs z today and we decided that in 20 years her, mine, and the dog's brain patterns will have been downloaded into new cyborg bodies so we can live forever.
It might be the only way I get to build all my stash.

I was looking at a build of the new Airfix Bucc in AMW today and thinking how there is no way I would ever be able to pull off the vortex generator staining on the wings in 1/72.
And I am quite happy with that conclusion.
I know my limits and I build to them.  Occasionally I will push myself and try something new with the expectation of failing.  Sometimes i'm wrong and am pleasantly surprised.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

That's absolutely the right attitude mate  Unfortunately my abilities have plummeted rather quickly over the last couple of years because of issues with my eyesight. Unfortunately my brain's acceptance of those problems hasn't kept pace and I have to constantly remind myself of them. Still I'm getting there and I don't throw my toys out of the pram quite as often as I did.  ;)

Not a snowballs hope in Hell! You will still have been adding to the stash as the years rolled by.

Maybe they'll be holographic in 20 years ?

Which will be a space saver but will mean shifting will need a degree in IT

Hannants just informed me that they have received stocks of my backordered new tool Spitfire Mk Vc

Just got an e-mail through announcing 3 "new" 1//35 scale tanks :

King Tiger ; M3  Lee/Grant ; M12 GMC.

King Tiger and M3 aren't unexpected, but the M12 is a bit of a surprise.

Interesting to see the Academy kit finally showing up again - it's been what, 20 years since it was out? (and the rest...)

Agree wholeheartedly... I lost count of the times I held off building something back in the day, as my skills weren't up to the job I wanted to do on something.
And so never got around to actually doing anything and tastes changed, as they do. WOTAM.

Now, I'm happy with what I can get. I won't deliberately do a hash job on things, but if it goes a little awry, "Oh well, fix it if you can - otherwise, ho-hum and onwards..."

Just got this message from Airfix:
https://airfix.hornbynews.com/2DJZ-1OVMS-DFCFF98D97E8572D2AQ9YS1E6DE5A29B363976/cr.aspx

QuoteDue to the uncertainty surrounding the outcome of Brexit and what it will mean for our International customers, we do not feel comfortable accepting orders until we have clear guidelines on how this will affect our Hornby family and the way we price and ship our products. Therefore, as of the 15th December 2020, we will pause taking non-UK orders, until 4th January 2021.

We hope that you can all understand the difficult position we are in and remain patient with us until we can find a solution. 2020 has proved challenging far beyond what any of us could have ever anticipated and we are immeasurably grateful that you have all continued to show your support for the company. We are truly lucky to be surrounded by such a wonderful community and we hope that you all have a peaceful holiday season.

We will be back to normal trading with fervour in the New Year, with ranges, collections and ideas that will be more than worth the wait!

Best wishes,
The Airfix Team

No politics of this course, this can't be good for Airfix at such a busy period.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Hannants have made a similiar announcement

"On December 27th our website will stop accepting orders from all EU countries. This is ONLY from EU countries. Please send us your orders as soon as possible! We will re-open the website to EU countries on Monday January 4th. The BIG difference is that all EU countries will then be Export countries so we do not have to charge the 20% VAT/Tax. OUR PRICES WILL BE MUCH LOWER!  We will then be charging Export prices without 20% tax. Possibly you will have to pay tax and duty when your parcel is delivered but we do not know. No information seems to be available. Please be sure you receive our weekly Hot News sheet because this is where the more detailed information will be posted."
Oh to be whiffing again :-(
