Wasn't there a foul up last year and it was leaked?

From the advent calendar, the 2021 range will be announced on 6th January.

Yup which is why the Magazine will be delayed and published on the 7th as the news is embargoed.

As it should be.  News of the new 1/72 Rotodyne can't be released without specific measures in place to counter the unavoidable huge levels of spontaneous public celebrations.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

We should be so lucky.............

I hear they were going to release it earlier, but they had an epiphany.

Anyway, eagerly awaiting the announcement of a 1/48 Scimitar.  Or Jetstream.  Or new Bucc.  Or JP5.  Or...

So I got that going for me...which is nice....

I see the list is out.  No 1/48 Bucc or Scimitar, but I am VERY excited about the 1/48 Chipmunk. I can see a handful of them on my shelves!  Vampire F.3 looks nice too.

Yep, just had a look.  Unsurprisingly it's a rather muted programme, informed I'm sure by delays to the 2020 release programme and Covid-19 impacts.  TBH there's not much in there that immediately appeals but I do wish Airfix the very best with the programme and that each of the items sell well.

Being a dyed-in-the-wood 1/72 aircraft modeller for me the star is the clearly the Mosquito - my been-in-the-stash-for-43-years Matchbox Mossie can finally be consigned to either the 'to whif' or 'to sell' pile.  Had I not already built all the Tempest marks I want to build I'd very much be up for getting one or two as it looks terrific.  The Lim-5 repop of the MiG-17 is eye-catching (still not seen a MiG-17 in LHS), and therefore tempting.

1/48 Chippie and Vampire look good but not in my scale.

The Vintage Val - OMG still haven't finished the one I bought when it was rereleased in a red box!  Really still wish they'd rerelease the Basset, Skyvan and Islander in this series.

As said, I hope the 2021 releases sell well and that Airfix's fortunes continue to grow.

2021 range video's just come out on Youtube:

I like the look of the 1/72nd Tempest: if it's as good as the Typhoon I may be tempted to put my hand in my pocket if/when there's any money there again...

The Vintage Classics 1/32nd Beach Buggy has some goofy what-if possibilities...

How long do we think it will be before the new-style starter set bases get whiffed into something wierd?

Two of my favourite aircraft

Did/does anyone do a tempest Mk I conversion set (yes I have been reading January's SAM). Heritage did a Mk II conversion, not sure about a Mk I though.

In 1/72 see https://jaysmodelkits.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=65_72&products_id=187.  I've got one, fits the Heller Tempest, looks good.  For some perverse reason I plan to use mine as a much modified basis of a Hawker P1009 Sea Typhoon but may instead build it straight.  will look at the bits I've stashed away for that project and if I decide it can be done without the Jays Models stuff I'm sure the conversion kit can be released into the wild.  OK Croydon.

A two-stage Mossie.

The Wooksta!

Mosquito according to the CAD is actually a TT35 - the rear of the bomb bay fairing has the cutouts for the drogues and the doors have the holders.  See also the leading edge landing light. The YouTube video also has a canopy with the astrodome.  To do the B.XVI from the box it'll need surgery and filling.
