I did Zac, I thought it was the recent 1/48 kit. Well caught.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Is the 1/72 Meteor F8 that new, or a re-pop of the one they did with Xtrakit a while back?

A pantographed 1/48 version would be a good step, if only to prove that it's possible.
Indications seem to suggest it's new - why would they go to the effort of doing CAD for an existing kit?

I've compared my MPM kit to the CAD, I'd put my money on it being a new tool. The intake on the CAD appears to be separated behind the wing root, on the MPM kit it's very close to the lip.

You can model both early and late machines from the MPM kit and the same should be possible from the Airfix kit, looking at the profiles on the box art, they have both the early and late cockpit glazing and presumably different intake parts.

Thanks for pointing out that the Meteor is 1/72, for some reason I read 1/48 (which explains the CAD images not box art).  Hopefully that means an FR9 at some point in the future.  Definitely tempted to replace the Special Hobby/Xtrakit F8 that's in the stash.

There's an interesting photo of a Buccaneer in the latest Air-Britain Aviation World. It shows a canopy embedded into the leading edge of the fin. Apparently it had blown off while the aircraft was taking off and flew straight back into the fin, and it didn't even shatter.

I rememember that one. Didn't it happen in the Far East, and the aircraft diverted to RAAF Butterworth?

Maybe that'll be Mr Airfix's present if we can all get through 2022.  It was well represented on their "2023 Wish List" on the Electric Twittering Box
So I got that going for me...which is nice....

With the Vixen and now Bucc they are chipping away at a nice range of 1/48 Cold War RN jets.  Makes me wonder why they don't release the Hunter with GA.11 decals.  I built their F.4 as a GA.11 last year after being pleasantly surprised to find the appropriate parts in the box (mainly just the Harley light nose).
So I got that going for me...which is nice....

I keep telling myself I have gotten all I will ever need (need, not build, mind you...) but then they do things like re-releasing the F-80 and Beaver.
Not that I *need* them, per se, but there are a couple of subjects in my Whiff folder... and I already have the Sabre for the first half of that project... argh!
Maybe soon...  :banghead:

Just what you'd expect from a Blackburn built aircraft.  ;D

I bet the designer of the fin got fired for not making it strong enough to withstand being dented!

Interesting! I'm just finishing an MPM/Airfix PR.9 modified by snatching the camera nose from the SH T.7 1/2. My main arguments against that kit are the ridiculously thick flying surfaces and the idiotic wing/fuselage joint. Otherwise, it looks like the Meteor it is..

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

The Wooksta!

They can't use the MPM/Xtrakit tool as Hannants had paid for it. They did release it but it was VERY quickly withdrawn.

Not like to get one as I have a number of older F8 kits, more than enough for my needs. More interested in the Basset and Beaver repops.
