Right gents I've got around to moving the discussion on plastics as it was becoming a little "all consuming" and it can be found here.

https://www.whatifmodellers.com/index.php?topic=50125.0

I apologise if the way I've split it appears to be a bit simplistic or even blunt, but I didn't want to have to start editing individual posts because then I could, quite rightly, leave myself open to accusations of manipulation.

Thanks

Chris

Great job!

Any chance that means you'll have a quartet of Centaurus engines and spinners (props?) going spare?

No because I am using the Heller SMER kit, not the Matchbox one.

I know it's in a book I have around here somewhere....

The Wooksta!

I might have a load of spare Matchbox Sabre engines. I'll have a look.

No problem, thanks anyway!

For anyone else wondering if the 1/24 Spitfire will feature "e" wing parts in this or any future boxing:

I think I need to adjust my expectations - I wasn't expecting such a simple (to my mind) set to cost 24 Euros!  :banghead:

IIRC the original Airfix 1/24 Spitfire I didn't even cost that much for the whole kit!

But also there weren't Euros then and a new family car cost what...$3k?
So I got that going for me...which is nice....

Well yes, but I wanted to make that comparison.

The original one came out in 1970 and I think family size cars cost around £1000 then.

Some of the Facebook comments are eyeroll generating:
"The new Mk. IX is great, with this new tool they can use it as the basis of  a whole series of
1/24th Spitfires,  I'm wanting a Mk.22 next". ;D
That'd be quite a trick.  ;D

The complaining about the new 1/43rd "weird" scale kits is hilarious, evidently many of these
"car modellers" have no clue about the 1/43rd scale car model world. Those that do have a
vague familiarity disparage them as "just diecasts".

Well I started work in 1968 age 16 and was earning £32 a month before tax. Still managed to get half cut 4 days a week and fully cut twice  :drink: ;)
