Type 387 study for a follow on leander class powered by Gas Turbines and Diesels rather than steam plant. Armament is updated to the Vickers Mk8 4.5" gun, Sea Wolf as possible replacement for Sea Cat and the inclusion of Norwegian Penguin anti-ship missiles.

The hull for this one is the Hasegawa JMSDF Tone DDE, the stern is extended and reshaped to create a fantail under the flight deck. The bows are built up using plastic card to create that leander style stepped bows.

Is this related to the Dutch/German 'Standard Frigate' (Kortenaer class)?

AFAIK this is a late 60's design, in the 70's the standard frigate concept was the Type 22 which equates to the dutch Standard class. Here they were looking at a follow on Leander using the weapons and radar & propulsion that were in development in the mid 60's so the Gas Turbines, new gun, and inclusion of Penguin SSM and earmarked for Seawolf; it did have a Dutch radar so possiblly some discussions over a joint program as the fit is very similar to the modernised Van Spiek class (Dutch Leanders).
