Need to have a closer look at the VI as the canopy and fuselage were slightly different.  I suspect that the cockpit isn't pressurized or sealed.  Have you had a closer look at yours yet, Chris?

No I haven't Lee. Happy with the kit as I took it out of the box, but if they are the same sprues then it's unlikely they've picked up the changes ?

I'm thinking of putting the Vokes filter (a thing I usually abhor) on a Mk I or II for service in Malta or Egypt ?

The Wooksta!

Had a quick squizz at the distructions for the VI and they tell you to fill the entry hatch panel lines and a few other things.

Again, I'll have to look but if the sprues are the same for the Ib, IIb and the HFVI, then the first two will have the larger oil cooler for the Merlin 45 Vb.

Local MZ - Airfix 1/72 Hurricane IIC/Sea Hurricane. Almost certainly real world

AZ Ib and IIB Spits - large oil cooler.  Means as from the box, they're wrong.  However, swap the oil coolers with those from the new Airfix Ia and you've got a Va wing but will need a Rotol prop.

Nice. I'm very tempted by one of those, I must say.

Todays acquisitions are as follows -

From Evilbay, an old Hasegawa A6M5 Zero. I didn't realise how tiny the Zero is!

From PP in Poole:

PM Beech 1:72 C-45 Expeditor - to be converted to an emergency ground attack/beach strafer type, with a nose full of machine guns and possibly underwing rockets.
Revell (ex-Matchbox) 1:72 Heinkel He70 Blitz - Not entirely sure yet, but the inline engine may well go towards building ElectrikBlue's "Pirate" fighter.
Trumpeter 1:35 PMC security guards in Iraq. To be converted to post-apocalyptic militia.
Some of my models can be found on my Flickr album >>>HERE<<<

And very welcome it was too!  Thanks, Jim!

Today's acquistions:

From Uncle Frank (but still in custody)
2 x Sword Spitfire Vc (trop and standard)*

From ebay:
PJ Productions Meteor NF11.  I want the wing - it's one piece cast with the big engines, so it's falling into rubber at some stage.  Add to an Airfix Meteor fuselage and I get a late F.3.  Added to that, it'll be easier to build than the Matchbox horror.

The Lotus Elite I won a few days back has also arrived.  Bit basic but it's a kit I've been wanting for 20 years.  Bright red for that one.

*Total Spitfire acquisitions in March to date: 2

Just one kit today:

Trumpeter 1/72 FC-1 Fierce Dragon/JF-17 Thunder

Had seen some pics online before and thought it looked great. And seeing it "in the flesh" only confirms that impression. Absolute gem of a kit!
Had planned to build it in Vietnamese colours, but I think I may build this for the Africa GB instead. Just have to decide on the operator.
Cheers,
Moritz
