Via Ebay, from a trader in Poland. One Special Hobby SAAB J-21R.

So that's where it ended up.  ;) What`s the kit like Martin?

Looks like it should be a good kit to put together. MPM/Special hobby have upped their game in the last few years. They don't look like shot run kits any more

I trust you will have it in Israeli markings for the Scottish Nats, complete with suitable modifications, like a variable incidence wing, etc. LOL

Jim

I dont work that fast Jim. Ok it might well be ready for the perth show, but what year is the question :)
I always hope for the best.
Unfortunately,
experience has taught me to expect the worst.

From ebay: not one but TWO Lindberg 1/48th Republic XF-91 Thunderceptors for a very reasonable price, given their scarcity.
 :drink:

Don't usually do 1/48th, but I'll make an exception in this case given that there's no 1/72nd kit of this aircraft and the difficulty of scratching/modding the inverse-taper wings (they're not just wider towards the tips, but also thicker...). One of them (the sealed one) is going in the collection as possible RW, but the other one will be converted into a Seversky Thunderdragon as per some Patchwork World profiles I did. In this respect, the big scale is an advantage, given that it's mainly a clothes horse for an outrageous colour scheme.

I vividly remember, as a 12-yr old, standing umming and ahhhring for ages in the model department of Riley's Toy Shop in Stockport (now long gone... :() about whether to buy one of these with carefully saved pocket money. Can 't remember what I did get, but I always remember regretting not going for the XF-91, because they never got another one in!

The Spitfires I ordered on the first have arrived.  Mixed feelings.

The AZ Silver boxed F21s are frankly a con.  The box contents are IDENTICAL to that in the Admiral Seafire F45 but the latter is some pounds cheaper (at least from the ebay trader I got them from - I know where my pennies are going now and it isn't Hannants).  The contraprop boxing is disappointing because you don't get the larger rudder. But, see below...

However, the flipside is that all three kits are still good value for money (even at Hannants prices), as they are the complete Admiral Spitfire 22/24/46 less the canopy but with the addition of a Spitfire F14 highback fuselage, resin tailplanes and canopy.  The Seafire 45 has the sting section of the rudder as a resin piece.  So you're getting 1 and a third Spitfires for the price of one.

This is good news, as with a little mixing and matching and raiding of the spares box, the enterprising Spitfire modeller can do quite nicely. As I was wanting a few extra Admiral Spitfire 22/24s for my Alternate Spitfire collection, I think I'll be ordering more F45s and keeping the spares for other things.  A decent F.XIV fuselage is welcome as all the others have problems - Academy's is all to cock shapewise, Frog's is too long in the tooth and was 30 years ago, Fujimi's is overengineered whilst the Ventura one is difficult to find.

AZ's Silver boxed Spitfire F14 highback will, I can confidently predict, be the entire FRXVIIIe kit but with the F21 fuselage.

The Wooksta!

Ordered another 3 Seafire F45s.  These will end up as either 22/24s or Spitfire F21s.

Total Spitfire acquisitions in April to date - 13.

Big box of bits from ebay. Keeping the aircraft and generic greeblies, but there are some 1/24th truck parts in there that I can't see myself ever using, so they might be up for grabs shortly.

Radish

7 x "hunchback" bubblebath Daleks (about 7" high) which will add various options to the Dalek Bubble Bath builds.
Not as nice as the original shape, but still raises possibilities for daftness. The weapons and eye will need replacing or viagra.
They could paint up quite nicely, though....

Also, forgot to mention that the splendid Howard of Effingham gave me a Meerkat Pen and a Meerkat fridge magnet. What a splendid fellow.

1/72nd Quad Tilt Rotor, 1/144th V/STOL E2 Hawkeye (stalled)

The Wooksta!

No.  The Italeri one is ex-ESCI.  I think - I'm not likely to buy an F111 but Monogram kits have only ever been reboxed by Revell whereas Italeri are slowly reboxing most of the ex-Esci and AMT/ERTL kits.

Here's me flogging my way through a 'stash reduction programme' (yeah right..........) and Thorvic shows up at Cosford with the Revell Chinook HC3 we'd been chatting about earlier in the year! I never thought I'd ever see one, so now it's here in Gloucestershire and he's got a Chinook shaped space in HIS stash!

Thanks muchly Thorvic sir, you're a man of style and of your word. (You do build a passingly good ship model too........ ;D)
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
