From Evilbay:
1 Ventura Spitfire F.IXc (Isreali and US boxing)
2 AZ Spitfire F22s (new boxing with Egyptian, Syrian and Rhodesian markings)

Spitfire acquisitions in June now total 28 plus 3 conversions.  Can I count my own resin castings?
Out of interest, are you working on a project here, or do you always buy this many kits?

The Wooksta!

I like Spitfires - does this make me a criminal?  And what's wrong with buying so many kits?  I'm sure the retailers need the business in the midst of a recession.

I'm ONLY building Spitfires this year, the project being The Alternate Spitfire - every mark, from Supermarine 224 through the Spitfire 1 to Seafire FR47, including the Spiteful and Seafang, and ALL of them are being whiffed.  Some are more difficult than others to find alternates and then there's the tricky subject of the sub-marks - do I try to do them all or just a few as representative?  I've gone for the latter.  Once it's all done, I'll be writing a book around them.

Some go straight into the build pile (two of the Brigade conversions, for example whilst one of the IXcs I got on Tuesday is now together and the filler is curing), others to replace ones that have been built or to go into the Spitfire stash for when I do the whole lot again but real.

An interesting point.  I discovered yesterday something odd with an Airfix IXc that I'd carved up the fuselage (it was going to be a Vc with the engine from an Airfix Vb) - there was radio hatch where there shouldn't be one on the starboard side, plus a pilot entry door.  Then I kicked myself for cutting it up.  This was one of the initial batch of IXc's that Airfix did but withdrew before release after realising that the tool was wrong - the patternmaker assumed wrongly that the hatches on the port side were present on the left.  I knew that some were in the UK (Airfix were using them for the 'Make and Take' at Telford last year as a mate managed to get one but not that they were on general release.  I had a genuine rarity that could earn me a few bob in a few years.  So I checked the other IXc I bought on the same day - same as the cut up one!  S that's getting locked away for a rainy day.

From ebay, a 1/72nd Heller Fi103 Reichenberg IV. It's the one that came with a Natter, but the owner of this one had already built the Natter. Fine by me: it's the Doodlebug I wanted anyway....

Would you be interested in the Mac kits of the Reichenberg?  I know I've at least one somewhere and I know I won't be building it.

Never heard of it - what scale, what material and is it rare? I only want one for a jokey model so I don't want to hack up something precious. I've been shying away from doing it in a bigger scale because of the cost of the 1/48th/1/32nd kits out there anyway.....

Today arrived my skunkworks 1/72nd scale??? reaper UCAV. This one is the original wrong scale one by the looks of it, as I measured up the weapons on it and they are very small.Maybe I will be getting a correct size one in the post soon. Morritz, have you got your replacement yet??

72nd.  I'm pretty sure I've both the powered Reichenberg III trainer and the armed Reichenberg IV.  I'm sure that I've the Condor/MPM kit in 48th to but that was less than a tenner when I bought it and the Heller Reichenberg/Natter double kit seems to go for silly money these days.

In that case I'll pass, thanks all the same.

I've now got a 1/72nd one and it's not like I'm inherently interested in the plane: it just fits a whacky idea I have.

Pegasus Spiteful F.14

Which moulding is it?  White or grey plastic?  If it's the latter, I'd be very interested in taking it off your hands for a reasonable sum of blue foldy stuff.  I need a pair of them to do as the hybrid navalised version.

Another day, another AZ Spitfire via ebay.  This time the mk II LR.  For 25p more than the Airfix mkIa.  Model club night and was handed an Aeroclub vacform fuselage for the mk 12 (so that'll be either a mk IVa or a Griffon engined PR1G once I switch the fin for a rounded one).  On top of that, I got an old KP/Kopro Spitfire IXe - well, most of it, the engine had been hacked off but I know I've a KP fuselage in the airframe spares box, so it doesn't matter.  Result!

Spitfire acquisitions in June now hit the 30 mark.
