Well got the 2nd part of my Spruebrothers Pitroad sale today:

1/700 JMSDF DDH Kurama
1/700 JMSDF DDG Tachikaze
1/700 JMSDF AOE Towada

Intersting this was the first order placed a couple of days before the 2nd but took an extra week to arrive !- wierd

Off Ebay final received some Pitroad stuff from Japan

1/700 DD Takanami
1/700 DE Yoshino
1/700 Wings of the West set 2 (x2)

The those last 2 lines has given me 5 Grumman Trackers for the Australia build, and the Wings set also has the Tracer option for them, the bad news is that they only have a pair in each set as it would be much nicer to loose the vehicles and get more S-2s in the set instead.
(Also get a pair of Sabres and Starfighters so they could be used on an ex CVT acting as an Aircraft transport i suppose, or alternately do them as Sea Starfighters which LM did look into !)

It's a dog of a kit.  Throw the interior away as the radar/nav positions are the wrong way round and the instrument panel doesn't fit - I had to take 2 mm all round off mine then carve a 1mm groove into the resin to get it to fit and even then, it wouldn't close.  The canopy has few frame lines and doesn't fit, although you get two (the spare from the Valom kit does not fit - I did try).  Horrid white metal, the wheels are laughable and the u/c itself is a nightmare to assemble.  It's an awful kit and I dearly wish that I hadn't bought another, although that's being combined with a Hallamvac one to try and get a decent Brigand out of the two, probably wheels up and with crew.

The Wooksta!

It IS buildable, but it does try your patience dearly.  I built mine whilst off on the sick in 2000 and hated every minute of it.  It took another ten years before getting a coat of primer and whilst the scheme is on, it's rotting in a box somewhere, unlikely to get finished for another ten years.  Certainly not this year as it's Spitfire Summer* and NOTHING else.

The wheels from the Valom kit are going to get moulded at some stage.  If you can get the white metal props John Adams released for the Valom kit, do it.  Failing that, you can have the plastic ones from the one that I replaced with the Aeroclub items.

*Every single mark of Spitfire, from the prototype to the Seafire FR47, plus the 224, Spiteful and Seafang, ALL whiffed.  I had a nice idea for a Spanish 224 last night and have the history all worked out.
