from lhs. Jamiesons models, AZ Models Spitfire 21 and  Finnish/Latvian Martinsyde

... is it just me being picky but are some companies churning kits out recently which 'should' be better, the old Pegasus Models 'limited run tooling' Matinsyde is stil a much better and sharper representation of the type methinks, the newer one looking like it has girders welded onto the fuselage as ribs and a 'roughness' or lack of finesse to areas such as the footholes and radiator. the resin engine block looks nice tho. all for £14

The AZ Spitfire 21, (possibly one for Lee to comment?) iv not checked it as yet against drawings, but against the real one hanging at Glasgow Museums (yip i wandered along with kit in hand!), the tail looks small, too curved in section, the wings look 'odd' too re upperwing bulges and maybe in outline shape? (years ago i made a 21 using an Airfix Spitfire V fuselage, old Frog 14 tail, a resin Griffon nose and Pegasus 24 wings which looks 'sharper' shapewise!)

ah well, heres hoping Eduard rerelease their 21 at some point, iv heard thats stil the best kit f the mark from the box !!?  :banghead:

Today arrived a bit of extravagance for me, and yes it will get hidden from the grouppenfurer
From Hannants an Anigrand Sikorsky s-67 Blackhawk. It looks like I will have to do a fair bit of modification to it as the kit weaponry looks useless.Something I was not expecting from a kit that cost so much. I will do this as a US Marines Helicopter escort, will probably get some AAM's and a pair of gun pods.
Cheers,
Chris.

Arrived today, from the Modelzone sale: one Revell 1:35 Unimog 2t truck. Good price, but the kit looks a bit disappointing upon inspection. It's rather crude, lots of flash and mould lines, etc. Still, for what I want it for it will do just fine.
Some of my models can be found on my Flickr album >>>HERE<<<

The AZ wing has a better shape than the Xtrakit/MPM one (and I loathe that kit now).  TBH, I haven't looked at the tail on the 21 as the only one I've started (actually the Seafire F45 boxing but same plastic) is going to be a Seafire F46 so the fuselage went straight into the airframes spares box, but I'll compare it later.

The Eduard one was a reboxing of the Aeroteam kit with a load of resin and etch.  Horrid kit to build (I built 2 and ditched all that I had left - approx 4), the wing is way too thick and if you went for the contraprop option, the rudder was too small as you'd need an F18 one withthe larger trim tabs.  IIRC, I was sure it was a copy of the original 1996 Czechmaster kit.  The current CMR kit also has a contraprop option but yet again, it doesn't have the F.18 rudder.  Neither does the AZ contraprop boxing, but if you've their F.14 boxing (high or low back, doesn't matter which), the F18 rudder will be spare.

The best Spitfire F21 from the box was the old Airkit resin one from 1990.  I think I've some spare F21 wings that Paul Lucas did sometime later.

Today's Spitfire acquisitions were limited to a pair of Hobbyboss Vbs, one of which will be converted into the PR.XIII by the removals of the cannons.  The other may end up as an Australian one, possibly as a Seafire Ib.

Total Spitfires purchased in June to date: 18.
On order: 3 Brigade Spitfire T.IX conversions

Welcome to the world of Anigrand.

It looks like I will be doing a reverse of the norm with this thing ie upgrading a resin kit with stytrene parts  :rolleyes:I think I will canibalise an AH-1w for the cockpit and the weapons and if I can get it to fit, the canopy. I don't like vac form canopy that comes with the kit, I don't trust my compitance at cutting it out properly, so if I can get a cobra canopy to work then that will do for me. The gun turret looks like it will get junked too in favour of a cobra one also.
Now to find a cheap parts donor Ah-1w

Porco Rosso alternatives in 1/72 including the Aichi Paul, Laura, and Seiran, and a Glen.     There's a Jill and a SM-79 also on the way for conversion to single seat runabouts for some rich whiffer in the late 1940's.
