Green Dragon

I got the military Yak 40 myself.

The moldings look pretty decent, though the landing gear legs have a touch of flash to be scraped from them.

All the parts are on one sprue, the engraved surface detail is nicely restrained. However, as all the subjects are VIP transports, popping those lines with a wash probably wouldn't be done. I know the Czech AF Yak-40s I've seen are spotless in real life.

The paint callouts are quite general.

The decals look quite nicely printed All of the windows are in decal form including the cockpit.

Looks like it could be simple enough to be a nice weekend project.

Cheers for the review upnorth, a lot closer to buying one now!  Only Yak-40's I've seen were a couple of the Yugoslav Government ones, spotless too!

<...> As one of the prototypes had a fixed wing? <...>

One of the Su-24's prototypes? Yes. The T6-1 had wings similar in shape to the Su-15's. CLICK!
If you look at the pic, the Su-24's prototype looks more like a TSR.2-ski than the F-111-ski it's often slagged off as.
Another odd fact is the wing of the TSR.2 is the same size as the Dassault IVA, (almost the same shape).

Didn't the T6-1 alos have lift engines behind the cockpit for STOL?

7 inch high figure of a nude kneeling Medusa. This will take extensive research of the naked female form to paint accurately. I've never met a Gorgon....but some women have come pretty close!!! This project will take a long time to complete due to the extensive and meticulous research needed.

;D

I'd be very interested in your comments on this kit.....my younger son (the undergraduate military historian)  has  just added this one  to his Christmas wish list"............... if it doesn't need too much fettling........"  Prevoius Emhar items he's  set about have ranged in quality from the sublime to the "cor blimey!"

He's used Armourfast  kits in the past too, and rates them as  "reliable".
