Thanks, everyone.  Tiny bit of progress today (but better than nuthin' and it meant having to clean/re-organize the workbench which is always a good sign).
These are the forward avionics bay doors in progress:





And with the parts assembled (will stand out more with paint and a wash):

Was nice to get some progress on the primer painting.  Some of the blandness of pure white styrene is just starting to show promise:

And the avionics greeblies got their first shot of Krylon Sandable Grey Primer today.  They'll be mostly painted in a "light black" with some highlights:

             

And, of course, what did I FORGET to paint?  My scratchbuilt doors, naturally.  It's okay, I'll be revising the landing gear doors too so I'll paint them all together (if I remember).

It's been awhile since tackling this.  Spent over 3 hours today...all on parts no bigger than 15 mm long.  Forgot just how demanding modeling can be, to be honest.  Let's see if some simple washes, drybrushing and detail painting can bring some life to the tiny, scratchbuilt avionics (compare with prior photos).

And here are the scratchbuilt avionics bays all those painted parts up there are supposed to fit into.  I did a pretty poor job of the dark wash and had to go back and sort of repaint the yellow zinc-chromate base.  I'm out of practice.
