Nice!!!  Now, how 'bouts an 80's "Reagan Refit" of the old girl?   ;D

A 50's or 60's RN style refit would be interesting of the Temeraire, lattice masts, radar, stag bofors & maybe Seacat plus directors, 4.5" Secondary armament or even the 3"/70 style guns

Nice build BTW joe, do i take it that its 1/600 scale ?

HMS Temeraire is 1/700 - Fujimi Iowa hull, superstructure from Tamiya KGV, guns from Tamiya Rodney. The Fujimi was a hands-on demo I brought to Battleship New Jersey Historical Museum Society displays - let the kids put their mitts on it and off the giant 1/192 museum piece. The two Tamiyas were missing many parts, and I had used other parts to build USS Virginia, a KGV taken into USN service.

I will do a Reagan-era update someday, but my next USS NJ projects are real world dioramas of her serving in WW2 with USS Biloxi, Korea with USS Toledo, Vietnam with USS Towers, 1983 with USS Midway, and 1986 with Battle Group Romeo.

Where'd you find a 1/700 Midway?

Joe uses multiple scales so it could be 1/800 rather than 1/700

The ARII "1/800" actually scales out to 1/730, and I'll be pairing it with a heavily updated Revell 1/720 NJ, and the diorama will be "one-sided", with an opaque backside to force perspective.

Oh really?  So would 1/700 aircraft look noticeably too big on it?  Would 1/700-1/720 (GMM Super Carrier Sheet) PE work then?  I'm thinking it would since they both work on the Italeri 1/720 CVs.  I've just never had one of the ARII kits to actually do the comparison.  Hmmmm....

I've got the Midway, and as long as you used Italeri 1/720 aircraft, things look spot on.  1/700 look OK too, but if you mix and match, you'll notice the slight size differences.

Neato!!!!  I wonder about ARIIs other 1/800 kits then.  Are they all really 1/730 or is the Midway kit just special?  ;D

Yeah, I may have to go hunting if they scale out half-way decently.

No idea on the others, but I had a Nimitz class in 1/800 that was noticeably smaller than the Italeri ones I had at the time.  No idea what she scaled out to.  But the Midway is definitely not "1/800" scale.

From what I've heard the other 1/800 are closer to that scale, and 1/700 aircraft wouldn't work for a real-world kit, but one could whiff it as a smaller carrier, perhaps an alternate design, a European design, or as the basis for a Soviet CVN post-Kuznetsov.

I do have the GMM Supercarrier set, and will be able to use some of the parts, but will have to pull parts from other sets.

For aircraft I mostly have Italeri aircraft, and as long as each aircraft of same type is in the same scale people won't notice.

How about pre-kuznetsov or the French PA-58 class carrier (larger Foch variant)
