Taiidantomcat,
Yes I see the mistake, I will correct it soon! ;D

Not sure when, but later this year I will get back to Focke-Wulfs...and they will be what-if types.
My plans are for a Ta 154, an unknown Fw 190 variation, and a Ta 152...but the Ta 152 will not be a C or H but pure what-iffery.
Also planned are painting a new backdrop and maybe another section of photobase, my last one sucks.

Ian the Kiwi Herder

Always liked the old Monogram 110, just seemed to 'sit right' if you know what I mean.

Confuscious (maybe)

Ian,
Monogram got the basic shape of the 110 pretty close and it looks enough like a 110 to me.
As I just found out after putting on the last of the decals there are a few areas where Monogram got it all wrong, for example, the bomb racks on the wings are positioned too far outboard which leaves you no room to put the underwing German crosses. I was forced to put them closer to the fuselage than the instructions call for and it looks slightly odd but it will have to do.
When Revell reboxed this kit they left the molds the same and added a really nice decal sheet and updated the painting and decal instructions, the decals are accurate but the model they go onto is not that accurate and some of the raised detail molded on the kit does not quite match the instructions for the decals. :-\
Despite some of the minor problems with this old kit it looks pretty good after the markings are on, after the decals are dry I will post a pic or two of the model.

Two in-progress pics of the 110.

Below you can see the bomb racks on the wings and how far they are out of place which forced me to place the crosses too far inward.

...if you had noticed the inaccurate placement of bomb racks earlier, you could have cut out the racks and positioned them further inward (it would help to have a spare kit wing, too!). I know how it is agonizing to see something when it is too late to do anything about it.

Still, the model looks good! I have many pictures of Bf-110's with the underwing Balkenkruze just outboard of the wing radiator (though they are generally earlier version of the Bf-110--"C"s) so there is precedence!
My mind is like a compost heap: both "fertile" and "rotten"!

Thanks sequoiaranger!

When I bought this model a couple years ago I intended for it to be a simple nostalgia build of this same kit that I built in the early 1970s, I knew this kit was not very accurate compared to newer and better kits of today so cutting up the wing to move the bomb racks was not an option. Actually I totally missed the fact that the bomb racks were in the wrong place until I tried to put the decals on today! ;D
If I was not still out of work I would get one of those new Airfix Bf 110 kits, they look very nice and are said to be accurate despite the low cost of the kit.
I do have one of those 1/48 scale Eduard 110 kits but don't want to start it and get bogged down and then lose interest in it...there are too many other interesting projects I want to get to this year.

Very close to being finished with the 110, the landing gear have been added and most of the weathering has been done to it. After the flat clear coat is added I will add some light paint chipping near the wing roots and put the canopy on and it will be finished!

This Bf 109G-2 is being built as an obsolete aircraft that was transferred to one of the fighter training schools and was slightly damaged in a take-off or landing accident.

I really am looking forward to the 110
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

matrixone

Thanks NARSES2!

The 110 will be finished later today but it might take me a while to get pics of it, there is supposed to be a great deal of rain here the next few days...and just last month was a record setter for rainfall amount. :banghead:

More new models started, now I am working on a 1/48 scale Tamiya Me 262 and two 1/144 scale Eduard Me 262s.

Here is the cockpit of the Tamiya kit, I am almost done with it.

In this pic you can see some of the other parts and the tiny Eduard kits.

The 1/144 scale 262s will be a real challange to airbrush the mottles on! :o

I started painting the two 1/144 scale Eduard kits, so far so good. The mottling should be the hardest part of painting these models. One of these models is being built as a nightfighter, the other will be a two seat trainer, thats why you see the different colors used on them.

The Tamiya kit is still a little ways away from being ready for paint. The silver inside the fuselage will not be as bright and clean looking for much longer, it will get an oil wash or two to bring out the detail.

Now that some of the smaller parts have been painted the rest of the airframe assembly will go much quicker. Another thing that has slowed down the progress of this model is the poor fit of the gun cover, adding some plastic to the gun cover and then lots of dry fitting and sanding was needed to get a better fit. So far this has been the only downside to this Tamiya kit. All the other parts have a perfect fit so far.

On the Tamiya 262 kit I will be using the new EagleCal decal sheet for the markings, below is the color profiles of the markings on the decal sheet, my 262 will be marked as ''yellow 2'' seen at the top of these profiles. Check out that wild camouflage pattern! :o

These are some very cool looking Me 262s and I want to do all these aircraft but not all in 1/48 scale, I also got another one of these decal sheets in 1/72 scale for my Revell and Hasegawa kits

Below is the cover of the new JaPo book, inside this book there is complete information on all the Me 262s on the EagleCal sheet.

And here is the cover of the latest ''Wings Of The Black Cross'' booklet, lots of new photographs in it including a Bf 109E that was used late in the war as a trainer and a good photograph of a Ju 88G-6 with the Berlin radar unit. All these photographs are new to me.

A new type of Me 262 Mistel? No, just a group pic of what the models look like now.

A close up of the 1/144 scale Eduard Me 262B.

The two 1/144 scale Me 262s might be done later this week, most of my attention will be directed upon the Tamiya kit because I will start painting it soon...and this model will have a complex camouflage scheme with many colors.
