Only after the looming crisis was averted did it become apparent to the Argentinians that much of the 'heavy equipment' carried in by the Princess MC 3As were actually fakes! This included 'threat emitting' BAC Rapier missile simulators and glass  fibre 'L118 Light Guns' (real 105s would be delivered later by Hercules).

Jasper Maskelyne would have been proud!

And what about the nuclear-powered Princess that was to be produced by Convair for the U.S. Navy? The project was run in secrecy from 1956 to 1960 approximately. That would make a fantastic What If model, don't you think?

Please may I refer people forward to posts 1653 and later on Maverick's excellent profile thread, where there are wondrous  illustrations and some discussion of the atomic Princess   (stayed airbourne until the tea-bags ran out)

Actually the Princess was SO big that there was room for a substantial tea-bag reclamation plant in the lower hull.

At the time these were the largest tea-bag reclamation plants in the entire world and were only exceeded by the monster one that was incorporated in the Houses of Parliament re-build in 1985..........
