Upon reflection, there is a KC-97 boom as well.  Much more likely given the time period.  Academy does one in 1/72.

No, am definitely looking at RAAF version. Tossing up on whether to have just the hoses or perhaps a scratch built central boom + two wing mounted hoses.  Decisions, decisions...

AFAIK the boom is included in all of the AMT KC-135 based kits, so there should be plenty spare floating about forum members.

I have a spare boom from an Academy B-29 kit if you want it.

Also, Aircraft in Miniature used to do a seperate KC-10 conversion for their 1/72 DC-10 kit, I've got two of them.  Contacting Neil Gaunt (the owner) might produce something as his line of kits are ever increasing now that his involvment with the A380 seems to be at an end.

Thanks - hold it for now though.  I want to wait until I actually have the Comet kit in my hands and can better analyse how I am going to do this.

Does the conversion have both boom and pods?

The conversion has the boom only, but it can be made to have the hose attachment to it.  I've not seen any photos of a KC-10 with wing pods, what do they look like?  I've come across a photo of a KC-10 which has a seperate hose reeling out of the fuselage though.

These pics show the pods mounted:

Upon further research, it appears as though less than 20 aircraft have actually been fitted which probably explains the lack of pictures.  The pods look to be standard Cobham 900E Series Wing Air Refuelling Pods:

Thanks Greg, nice find.  They look remarkably like the pods found on the CC-150 which Aircraft in Miniature also make.  Neil Gaunt should be able to help you out.

While doing my googling about this, I found out that only the last KC-10 produced was built with the pods, Greg.  Half the KC-10 fleet was converted later but the money ran out before they did the lot.

I saw that earlier - unfortunately, it is the late schemes, whereas I am thinking of having my Comet 4C derived tanker being in the same scheme as the original high viz scheme worn by the B707s:

I have decided I will need the boom as well as the hoses for the diorama I have planned as I have decided upon what it will be refuelling ;D.

Woohoo!!!
